We were lucky enough to win a competition that included lunch at Salt & Spencer—a chic café with Mediterranean vibes and breathtaking ocean views to match. Armed with a $100 voucher, we dined like royalty, sharing three generous dishes: the salt and pepper squid with chips, the salmon rice salad, and the southern fried chicken tacos. We also treated ourselves to a couple of fancy mocktails from their extensive drinks menu. To be honest, the experience far exceeded our expectations—especially given the café’s relatively modest Google rating. While the squid could’ve been a touch crunchier, the rest of the dishes were well above par. The tacos, topped with mango, lime, and avocado salsa, had a delicious tropical twist. And the salmon rice bowl was packed with flavour, nutrition, and great textural variety—all brought together in a flavourful punch. A great spot that pleasantly surprised us. Would happily return if we are ever in the area.

Came for dinner here as a family with my 9 month old on a Saturday evening. Huge windows opening up to the wonderful ocean view, we could smell the salt in the air and hear the waves crashing on shore from our table. Live music was perfect, good vibes but not too loud, so you could still hear the waves and have a quiet conversation. The staff were so lovely, attentive and accommodating. Special thanks to Jim and Bree for taking such good care of us, engaging our baby and helping us with group photos. Food was delicious. We had the rib eye, seafood linguine, crumbed aubergine and duck. Sides of corn and cauliflower a lovely complement. Entree of kingfish sashimi. Overall we had a wonderful time here.

Two lunches here & both were pretty nice. The location is amazing being right on the beach & the view makes a warm day down here a really nice outing. Service was super (like under 10 mins to get food) efficient & smooth. Table reservations are easy to get. Food options are pretty limited, would have thought could put more stuff on the lunch menu like upstairs. I’ve had the squid which was quite greasy, the little side salad & chips were nice. Separately, had the fish & chips which was a very big serving & pretty decent, salad with this was a little underwhelming. Range at bar is good, pricier than upstairs though. Come here for breakfast, or a few cocktails at sunset. Might try that next time!

Awful. A birthday dinner disaster. It was so incredibly loud. From the live music, to the people at the table next to us shouting at each other above the music, and the conversations from back of the room being shouted across the tables. It was that table beside us, their conversation about hunting the half dead rat (as I tried to eat the dry, tasteless chicken I had been served), that truly broke me. The service staff also admitted that they were unable to hear us. This was evident from the confusion and complications when ordering. We had to leave as I was so uncomfortable about the chaotic atmosphere. Besides all of that the food honestly tastes like it had been served from a frozen packet. Beer...
