I was pretty excited to try this place while visiting Mount Gambier as it's the only Sri Lankan restaurant in the town. The atmosphere was nice and the service was great. But when it comes to food I was not completely satisfied. We've ordered, *Potato wedges, which was the best out of all ๐ *The mixed fried rice was good ๐ *The Sri lankan koththu roti was not what I expected. The gravy that had been added to it was salty, it looks like they've added a lot of soy sauce, and it was overpowering. It did not taste like an authentic Sri lankan koththu roti and was also dry at the same time. โ๏ธ *The Lankan paratha was good in presentation, but then again, the chicken curry was too salty. That's quite a down point for a Sri lankan dish. โ๏ธ
The Sri lankan dishes need to improve compared to the prices they charge.
Edited after owners response First and foremost, I never said that everything was good and nobody bothered to ask me at the same time. Please don't make false statements in order to save your reputation. I should be rating you 0 stars after your response, but I wouldn't do that. I know that it hurts when someone speaks out the truth. First I was excited, but now I regret visiting your restaurant! Such a waste...
ย ย ย Read moreDinner. 2 people. Chicken Schnitzel Burger and Healthy Salad with chicken added. Meals came out very quickly, virgin Mojito was very good, fresh mint and lime (virgin only, not clear from menu but only $5.90 so not including rum!). When salad arrived it was quite a small serve and the added chicken was thin crumbed schnitzel, highly processed. Expected something steamed or pan fried breast with a healthy salad but was OK. After realising the salad was served without 3 main ingredients (feta, quinoa, and avocado) I asked the staff. They apologosed, and promptly took salad away then returned it with feta and avocado on top. Not the most generous serve of either and no quinoa. Chickpeas included in salad were raw, no roasting/flavouring. Salad dressing strong but quite overpowering without any quinoa to balance. My partner said schnitzel burger was OK, with well seasoned chips but overall we were not impressed with this as a foodie bar. Perhaps order Sri Lankan curries if you go because these looked nice coming out to other diners, however, we had curry previously and were hoping for something a bit better from here given other reviews. Overall, value for money OK, but not a...
ย ย ย Read moreThis place is a mix of Sri Lanken and Aussie. The food was nice and the eggs had a really nice flavour to them. Not sure what they do to their chickens or where they get them from, but for my poached eggs they were delicious.
They greeted me quickly and were very friendly. Table service is prompt even though they had a full house, and the meals came out surprisingly fast. I'd have expected to have waited at least over 30 mins since they did have a full restaurant, but nope. The meals were delivered hot and prompt.
A little on the pricier side of things, but I'd return to try some of their other dishes.
Overall a lovely restaurant, nice staff and...
