If I could give 6 stars for service, I would... needed this after a long day and week. On a rinse and repeat week, we didn't want to head straight home and to bed, just to do it all again on the morrow; so we decided to take a walk to no-where imparticular, we just headed north... we were eventually transported to heaven on the back of a wonderful waft of charred sweetness to our olfactory sense. Enter the Mack Daddy's. A place I was aware of, and had wanted to visit for a really long time, but had never been able to convince my dining partner to venture this way, more on that later... was it fate or happenstance. Perhaps we'd just walked the perfect amount. We were greeted moments after wandering in oblivious to anything around us. The staff were ever so polite, helpful, and had jokes early. They made us feel special, and that in itself is special these days. The ambience was relaxed, had the nostalgic 90s and early 2000s Hip-hop on low enough in the background, that we could have a conversation, (read complain about our respective days) and just enjoy each others company, after a poorer than average day. There were families, groups of friends and couples dotted about the dining room, so you could tell the staff would be well rehearsed. Back to my point, My partner, as a rule, hates anything with cheese... sacralidge, I know, but she indulges me often enough that I know I'm both pretty lucky yet don't take it for granted... Tonight, I threw the option out, what about PIZZA? ready to be vetoed, but no... it was my night. The favourite part of my night was when she took her first bite of the aptly named The Baller and started dancing in her seat... we found a pizza joint she not only will tolerate but enjoys and wants to go back to. That is a win... We got a couple of pizza's as one is never enough, and variety is allegedly the spice of life. New York style pizza as big as you want it, and as it says on the staff shirts, Size really Matters. Dough- nice and light with chewy crusts-check, Toppings- perfect amount, not too heavy, not too light-check, Cheese- great pull-check. Overall, a win tonight for Mack Daddy's and me. We'll be back. Definitely glad of the walk and big thank you...
Read moreUnfortunately the bottomless brunch was not what I would recommend. The dates are hard to book in advance as they aren't released early or consistent, you have to pay in full with no flexibility which no other place does, and then given you've got a set time there they don't even let anyone inside until after the clock is ticking on your two hour limit. We were one of the first groups in, and were the last one served despite repeatedly asking how things work and when we would receive something. Staff dismissed us repeatedly, and we watched tables around us get served three and even four times before we got anything. After 45 minutes, we finally got our first drink and then waited another 5 for our pizza, despite it being a two hour "free flow" session for both food and drinks but they never tell you that you have to order half pizzas amd eat every slice before you can order more, despite the very long wait. There was a pineapple juice or something on the table as you arrive but no idea what was in it, and no one tells you what is going on. We asked for a double round of drinks considering their terribly slow service, and the waitress ranted about RSA which we all know not to be correct. They only get the one extra star because one guy came around and apologised for the terrible service about half an hour before ending, and he then allowed us a little catch up with an extra round of drinks but it still was nothing compared to what others got all around us. Pizza was nice but nothing amazing, the cocktails were pretty good. They gave us a beer that apparently was not permitted in the bottomless orders, then guilted my friend about it. Then they ran out of bubbles, constantly mixed up our drinks then wouldn't even let us have the second round of drinks they doubled up by accident. The staff wandered around aimlessly and ignored customers, at one point I had both arms in the air waving ridiculously and still couldn't get any of the five staff to look at me. Definitely not good value at all, especially when you've been to other venues who are better organised and don't treat...
Read moreOld Review: Who would've thought that bread and cheese could taste so good? I've been to Mack Daddy's many times now. I go, maybe once every 3 months or so. Every time I get back there, I think "why don't I come here more often?". The pizzas are ridiculously good, and the staff are always great. And in a world where we have so many shithole pizza joints, it's easy to see how a small restaurant, putting a little bit of ACTUAL love, not the manufactured, marketing, cliche term of the word love, but actual love into their food, it goes a very long way. I could see how price maybe an issue for people getting in the door, but once you try it, you're happy that the weight is now out of your wallet and on your hips. These guys are always busy, everytime I'm there too, so I don't think they're going anywhere any time soon. I just hope they eventually have room to expand. Put a couple more around Perth. I want to see love handles and cheesy smiles in every suburb.
Update: Mack Daddy's has changed... not just in the way that they've moved restaurants, but they've actually changed in quality. What I once thought was the best pizza I have ever had, I now think it's just pizza. Ok, you get the novelty of having a massive pizza. But that can't carry the experience. It needs to be good pizza too. What Mack Daddys has become is just big pizza. Not big good pizza. Just big pizza. It used to be greasy, and fatty, and sloppy, which is what made it good. Now it seems to just be a minuscule amount of ingredients, on an ok, large base. Sorry guys. I'm gonna have to drop my rating from my previous review.
New update: 2025. Well, it seems they've dropped even further. Their pizza, 'All Eyes on Cheese' used to be a really good, blue cheese pizza. Now it tastes like a dominos cheesy garlic pizza. Not happy that it's not the quality that it once was in the beginning. I'm downgrading my...
