4.5 stars to be honest. Had ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan and Lassi. The menu does not have many paneer options in it. The sauces would be the same with the meat options or the paneer options, so it wouldn't hurt to keep it there, even if paneer isn't very popular in Mudgee. The food was extremely tasty. I've had Indian food in over 50 restaurants in Australia and this definitely was in the top 3. The only criticism I could think of was maybe it was very slightly oily but still excellent and easily a 9.8/10. Service needs a lot of improvement. The receptionist lacks awareness, this may be due to the fact they use old school written out bills, but her face was more on the books than on the guests. Regular checks need to be made with a glance around the room. Reception had no smile or energy to offer upon entry. I had to initiate the conversation. Which is a big issue to be solved. I noticed the chef and cooks themselves were very attentive. A nice gesture I noticed by one of the cooks was to return one of their customer's glasses by running outside. The atmosphere was okay. One big improvement I would like to see is with how the menu looked. Plain text written on Microsoft Word just doesn't look great. Some work with a designer and a printing place and you could have a great looking visually appealing menu. There were chandeliers which could be lit up through pointed lights because I only noticed them when I was exiting the place. The serving plates and bowls could get an upgrade, as well as the utensils. They weren't bad or impractical, but weren't up to the standard of other restaurants. The furniture also seemed a bit old and could get an upgrade.
Overall, the food was honestly worth coming for every time I come to Mudgee. I would just like to see better service with more engagement with the customers. Maybe some improvements in the atmosphere. Hope this business does well because I'd love to have a branch in Sydney with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe recently moved to Mudgee and acknowledging the number of people living in this little town, we were so pleasantly surprised after visiting Rajarani. Having travelled around Australia a little bit, we were expecting this to be a typical curry house with oily curries but that was absolutely not the case with Rajarani. I am an Indian born person and it feels like I've found an ideal escape from burgers, steaks and cafe food in this wonderful town.
Service and interiors are almost not worth writing about as mentioned by others as well, but what we did come to the restaurant for, was the taste and for what we were missing from back home and boy did it deliver! The cooks did notice me and waved out in sort of a bro-code fashion but I get why that might have been haha! I was happy about it ;)
You will notice that it's actually more expensive to eat-in vs takeaway. My recommendation is DO IT - forget the service and the ambience, and enjoy a fantastic hearty meal in the comfort of your couch. It will be totally worth it!
We ordered samosas, chicken tikka masala, garlic naans and one other chicken dish. All of them delicious and some of the best we have had in Australia next only to some of the deliciousness served in Harris Park - Sydney's Indian neighbourhood in the western suburbs. People from the Indian subcontinent will find this place on their own (like we always do), but I would seriously like to recommend this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI, along with my family and friends, visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience was less than satisfactory.
The service started off on the wrong foot with a grumpy waitress who didnāt seem interested in creating a welcoming atmosphere. While I understand that everyone can have off days, her attitude made the dining experience uncomfortable.
When the second waitress brought our dishes, she identified only one of them and casually dismissed the rest with, "It is whatever it is." This lack of attention to detail felt unprofessional and disrespectful.
When it came time to pay the bill, things became even more frustrating. The restaurant doesnāt have a POS machine, which is highly inconvenient in this day and age. The first waitress manually wrote down prices from the menu and used a calculator for the totals. To make matters worse, the owner interrupted her to take a phone call, leaving us waiting while the second waitress scrambled to take over.
Overall, the disorganised service and lack of professionalism left a poor impression. The food was okay, but the lacklustre service overshadowed everything. I hope the management works on improving both the service quality and operational efficiency to create a better experience for...
