Tonight, we dined at the Mudgee Brewery. We had booked in advance and were looking forward to it.
Upon arrival, we were not greeted. We found our seats and went to look for a menu, only to be told that we had to order and pay by QR code located on the table. Normally, this would have been fine, but we had cash that we would have liked to use. Unfortunately, that was not an option, or so we thought.
We decided to bite the bullet and ordered online, which was processed at 6:07 pm. After 20 minutes, we were finally greeted, only to be told that their system had gone down and the order had only just gone through. In this time period, the table next to us was greeted and given menus...
Another 15 minutes passed, and all our food was brought out together, rather than our entrees coming out first, leading to the rest of the food going cold by the time we reached it. We looked over at the table next to us, which arrived 30 minutes after we did with more people than we had. They were getting their food at the same time. Once again, frustrated, we brushed it off and let it be.
When we told the staff that we were ready for dessert, it was reaching the table by the time my partner got back from asking for it, with the staff member trailing behind him. This led us to assume that it had been sitting out, which would normally be okay, especially on a busy night. However, the brownie was swimming in berry sauce. On the menu, it had only stated "brownie," but upon arrival, it was swimming in berry sauce, which I personally do not eat. We took it back to get a new one. In speaking with the employee, Amanda, my partner was asked if we just wanted to scrape off the sauce. He declined and requested a new one, as I had previously mentioned that the brownie was swimming in the sauce, which would have meant that it had seeped into the brownie. We received a new brownie, and I must say that it was delicious.
I spoke with the manager about our frustrations, and she called us liars about her employee asking us about scraping off the sauce. We had nothing to gain by lying. Her employee did mention scraping off the sauce initially, but then turned to ask the manager when we declined. The manager was not present when her employee mentioned scraping off the sauce.
I am astounded by the poor customer service and will not be returning. We understand that it was a long weekend and that it was busy, but please do not let your standards drop like they...
Read moreWe were a table of approx 20, prebooked for fathers day breakfast. It was very busy. The place looked great, and the staff were lovely and friendly, and tried really hard. There was about 7 or 8 staff on for the day. Unfortunately, it was a very young and inexperienced team, with no clear experienced team leader. Our orders came out intermittently, though all delicious, they were inconsistent in presentation, not a biggie. The main thing was that we were booked at 9.30, arrived on time and the last of us waited an hour and a half for our breakfast to arrive, by which time the first people in the group that had been served had long finished but couldn't go as they were still waiting for other family members to receive theirs. Part of our group, unfortunately, left before their meals arrived due to the wait. Not the staffs fault at all. Clearly, a rostering issue. If I was rating on effort on behalf of the team on the day, this would be a 5 because they really did try hard under very difficult circumstances. The low rating is for the benefit of whoever did the roster to be better prepared for fathers day. I would suggest next time roster on a team leader who has a lot more experience to help the staffing issue, especially on such a potentially big day as...
Read moreAmazing for dietary requirements!!
I visited Mudgee for a little getaway this weekend, however eating out can be very difficult for me as I have dietary requirements stemming from Crohn’s disease (key ones being vegan, no onion/garlic, and limited grains and fried food). However Mudgee Brewing Co was incredible when it came to accommodating me!
I got a call from the chef, Brendan, a week or so prior to coming, during which we planned out a custom dish to suit me. He ended up making me this delicious baked eggplant with red pesto and salad, which he even needed to order different produce in for ahead of time!
While I’m not gluten free, I feel it’s also worth noting that most of their menu is GF, or can be made GF upon request, which I think is just AMAZING and really highlights how aware they are of dietary requirements.
Beyond how willing they were to accommodate me, I have to say Brendan and everyone else we encountered there was just super lovely and friendly. Definitely recommend stopping in for a feed next time...
