Lulu's Cafe — Restaurant in Mullumbimby

First time I came here was brilliant! Great food friendly fast staff, decided to come back.... unfortunately wasn't the same experience. Being ignored as a customer as soon as I walked in as the lady taking orders thought hugging her partner was more important then serving, after finally being served the lady wasn't overly nice and repeated my order 3 times. After waiting half hour for a coffee and avo on toast I carefully watched the young lady that served me and she was crying at the front of the Cafe, I understand we are all people and it's sad to see someone having a bad time but you can't bring those dramas to work and make the business suffer! Finally getting my coffee and food, coffee was bitter and the avo toast with sprouts and pickled veg was a let down. Pickled veg was just carrot, and the sprouts were just a tiny bit of alfalfa on top as a garnish. As a well known chef in the area it frustrates me to see business suffer from the simple things and I hope the owners fixes the issues because inconsistency is the worse thing as a hospitality business....

All of the food, - starters, mains and desserts comes out looking beautiful. You can tell straight away that this food is prepared and presented by someone who really cares!

Delicious combinations of flavours and textures, - beautifully balanced elements in every dish, combining tender, succulent chicken or lamb with pomegranate, figs, almonds. Excellent vegetarian options too, with delicious hummus, falafels, cheeses, and salads.

Particular mention for the chicken maryland, marinated in pomegranate (main course), and the Mubarraq dessert. Both outstanding!

The service was efficient but very friendly and relaxed. Very welcoming vibe.

We were a party of seven, for dinner, and just ordered all of the starters to share, then individual mains. Most of us had dessert too, and the value was excellent for the quality and quantity of food we had.

Lulu's Cafe is a long established hangout for locals in Mullumbimby. They are trialling an evening dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. We had the pleasure of dining there Oct. 5 and it was very good. There were a few large parties, greatly enjoying themselves. There were four of us, and we shared plates. All the dishes were good, and the service was attentive.
