-The Feed Punchers visited Narooma, a small beachside town, located in the far south coast of New South Wales. The destination for the punch was at ‘The Inlet’, a seaside seafood takeaway shop. -First on the menu was the fish and chips. It featured a fried blue grenadier, which possessed a perfectly crispy thin layer of batter. It had soft and tender flesh, and a subtly sweet fish taste. The batter:fish ratio was perfect, differing from most fried fish, which is often overly battered. The taste was simple, nice in combination with lemon. -The Calamari rings were delicately stringy, being soft and easily breakable. The calamari tasted fresh and the batter was deliciously crispy and consistent. It was perfect sided with the tartare sauce and lemon. -The fried fish burger included flake, which is gummy shark meat. The bun used was brioche, which was a bit too sweet, especially in combination with a sweet fleshed meat. Red onion, double cheese and lettuce were confusing additions, which would better suit to a red meat burger. -The grilled fish burger, featured a swordfish fillet. It was cooked well, soft and rich, served on a sesame seed bun, with a light salad and a medium spicy chilli chutney. This burger was well constructed with complimenting flavours. -The chips were all crispy on the exterior, soft on the inside and salted reasonably. -Overall, a pretty decent fish and chips spot, Thank-you, ‘The...

This is an update from my last review 2 years ago. I gave it 4 stars then. Now giving 1 star - would give zero star for over charging if there was an option!

I think this establishment is confused as to what type of food venue they are running. Charging 5 star prices for Takeaway Burgers & Chips. Sad for me , I didnt calculate the cost until after ordering:

$47.30 for - Regular Hamburger , Haloumi Hamburger 4 x scollops 1 x juice

Burgers suppposed to have had 'salad' on them, but no tomato or beetroot, lots of alfalfa to make the burger look big.

The potato in the Scallops-hard, way undercooked!

When I was given my order , they forgot to give me the juice I paid for.

I believe there is a new owner, and they are possibly confused, thinking that they are selling food in Sydney with their sky High prices like their houses!

Feeling totally ripped off. I will never go back there while under greedy management.

We could have went to a cafe for a table service meal for what we paid - with change.

Disappointing experience. Stay away unless you have money to burn.

2 YEARS AGO: Nice food, great views. 4 in my group visited here for Lunch. Lots of Seafood choices, the 3 Seafood meals our group had were delicious. No real Vegan options to suit me, so adapted the one salad meal on menu. Friendly...

"Where's best for eating fresh local fish?" "Nowhere" replied the owner of the local coop. When pressed, she sent me here. The lady behind the counter was capable of a friendly hello, but thereafter her vocalised lack of staff seemed to limit the extent of the welcome. But she was fine, and it was Monday after a weekend that I'm sure she enjoyed about as much as my friend enjoyed her colonoscopy yesterday. After passing the test, and not passing off the barra as local, I settled on the gummy shark. When I say settled on, it was the only local choice available. Sadly, this large wonderful eating, sustainable fish was somewhat disrespected. I get how you cut its massive fillets thin, to keep wait times down...but this leaves it susceptible to overcooking...its simple...cook one side, til you see the heat affect the upturned side, flip it over, 30 seconds, done! Overall, it was about 50pc as good as its potential, saved by some deft seasoning. The chips were a poor grade of commercial, and as lovingly prepared as your sneakers. Salad? (Insert Monty Python cheese shop sketch here) Overall, I'm sorry to say that my advisor was right...the bowlo yesterday was better...see how...

Expensive for what you get, also considering that it is a take-away only place, the prices are just too high. I paid $36 for the below picture, would have had to pay an extra $2 for sauce and $7 for salad. Nah. Despite calling it fish and chips, you actually have to pay $2 extra for chips otherwise you only get fish. The fish that we got was sooooo thin and we only got one thin piece + quarter cut off. Scallop was mostly flour. Calamari on the menu is literally just calamari. No chips, no sauce, nothing else. They tasted ok but not awesome or to die for. As comparison, this place charges $16 for fish only + extra $2 for small chips + $2 for sauce + extra for salad. Whereas, the Narooma pub nearby charges $19 for fish and chips (and their fish and chips come with more than 1 fish, big serving of chips, salad and sauce + you get a nice view at the pub).
