Narooma Ice Creamery Cafe — Restaurant in Narooma

The last review I wrote was ages ago as this is so time consuming and I believe it's a passive way to get a business to improve their products and service. As a customer, I usually prefer to speak to the business straight away rather than a poor review in public, because I do care about the places I like to go and also like to keep coming back.

Coming to the ice cream shop buying tubs on a regular basis instead of going to supermarket, that's just what we do to support the local businesses, but we need to reconsider this again now since we were turned away while we tried to address the issue and get it fixed.

What happened - bought a tub of icecream of vanilla and pistachio as usual, and apparently there was no pistachio flavor in the pistachio ice cream, it tasted plain basically just sugar and cream, I believe it was a genuine mistake, maybe the maker forgot to put the essential ingredients in, so I called and talked whoever was on the phone, I think the person on the phone probably said at least 5 times there was nothing they can do but trying to understand what happened. I said I still got the tub, and apparently because it was a week ago, so she said there was nothing they could do.

What drove me to write this review is not because she said there was nothing they could do, it was simply because she didn't even try to understand the problem? No questions asked, not even to go and check with other staff or taste it themselves or ask me to bring it back in whatsoever.....she just made me feel like they don't care.

So let's say I ordered a brownie and there was no chocolate in it? There is northing we can do. I'll tell the patissier to do better next time, and not even a sorry.

Not a local, am a google plus guide food blogger and reviewer.. I came and ordered a seafood basket being so close to the water I was expecting above average seafood. I was wrong it was bellow average nothing was made in house the flat head fish was obviously frozen boxed fish one was ok but another tasted awful and had a foul smell. Prawn cocktail ? You know the ones you get frozen from Woolworths in a seafood basket made no sense to me. Premium price by the water but it was a let down.

Advice better off partnering up with the seafood shop 2 doors down getting something freshly battered fish and cook them instead of frozen boxed fish and prawn party cocktails.

Juice was good salad was nice just feel like they can improve. I have read all most the reviews i honestly try to give this a 3 but the fish was a let down.

Edit : Response - As a food blogger we work in silence. I’ve never seen a menu that says seafood not fresh. I respect you hired workers but that’s got nothing to do with the experience. The food was a let down and you agree to it being boxed fish. This is nothing but constructive criticism respect your grind and employment but I definitely think you can do better with the fish basket. Their are many option. We respect how long you open for but that day it is what it is I’ve rated what I ate and been doing so for 14 years working at the highest kitchens In Sydney cbd.

We had 2 of us, and the cafe was only half full. Our waitress was grumpy, and when they bought the coffee out, it didn't have a little biscuit served with it even though they were doing this for everyone else 🤷. I know 😂. But it's the small things! I had carrot cake and coffee, and both were nice. My son had eggs Benedict with hash browns and sausages on the side, and everything was cooked nicely, and presented nicely. The menu was limited, I think it needs freshening up. But the selection of cakes was good and they all looked fresh. TBH, I would have scored 4 if it hadn't been for the service. We buy icecream here every summer (for at least last 5 years) and buy take away coffee, but it's the first time we've eaten here. Probs the last time, there are other places to go. There is seating inside and out, and it's in a good location on the corner. There are big bright windows which is good, makes it nice and open. They just need to up the ante on service.
