I am writing this review purely regarding the Manager. The other staff at Barto's are lovely and there is nothing at all wrong with the food. I have been a regular customer as Barto's until a run in with this piece of work. Whilst the staff was getting the roll I had asked for my work phone rang. I work with people with a disbility and this phone line is extremely important. I can never ignore it no matter what is happening. After taking the call I was apologising to the staff member and explaining why I had to take the call when the lady Manager snidely interrupted, proceeding to tell me off in front of everybody present in the store. After explaining that I can't ignore this phone she still insisted I should have hung up on the individual with a disability I was speaking with, and that she doesn't pay her workers to stand around waiting for me. I have never been so appalled at an individuals lack of understanding and overall spitefullness. Unfortunately I can not go back after this...
Read moreNice products from this bakery. But it does concern me a little when I see a staff member carrying a pile of bread loafs out to the front, piled up in her arms and under her chin, without any protections, cloths or anything separating the loaf from her bare skin. Do the staff at this store not know about hygiene? surely they must if they are cooking for the general public. It just makes me wonder about the green spots occasionally on some of the bun seeds, I once thought it was a dye rubbed off from a cooking tray or something, but now I wonder if it is something worse. It is a real shame though, I would have gave this bakery 4 stars, and this bakery is a really great place and it has never made me or others sick, that I know of, But for how long can it go without saying that? I think a little more attention to details and take your time and carry less loaves, do not pile them up under your chin, no one wants to taste your make up or sweat with their Peanut Butter...
Read moreToday's visit to East Gosford Bakery could not have been worse. I had to ask if they sold pies because there were none in sight. The young Lady showed me to a pie warmer hidden behind the end of the service counter. The pies in the warmer looked like nice home made pies so I chose a chicken pie. I drove to a nice park about 3 klms away to enjoy my lunch but there was zero enjoyment. The pastry had stuck to the foil base and it completely pulled apart. The pie looked like 2 pieces of bread with a spoonful [ dessert spoon ] of small chicken pieces. Nothing else, no gravy , nothing. I've eaten probably thousands of pies in my 40 odd years as a Sales Rep but never anything this bad. If that's the best you can do you should close your doors...
