Tonight was our first time dining at Mr Cai's. Upon arrival at 5.45pm, there was no one in the restaurant, so we got choice of seating & as a group of 4 decided quickly what we wanted to order. It took the waiters over 20mins before they eventually took our orders yet we were the only ones there at that point. Once we ordered, after 30mins of waiting for our food, a child came out to tell us that they'd run out of chow mein noodles so we could no longer get one of the main dishes we ordered. This was after 30mins of already waiting. Not sure why they didn't tell us this at the beginning? So this was very disappointing. The water glassses given on the table smelt so strongly of bleach that it was not drinkable. We had one drink order taken which also took a ridiculous amount of time & despite waiting almost an hour for our food, and they stuffed up one dish that was supposed to have cashews but didn't. No one ever came & took another drink order or apologized for the time we were left waiting. Takeaway food seemed to be leaving the restaurant constantly so obviously the restaurant was favouring those orders over those seated in their restaurant. Overall the food was nice & fresh, but the lack of any atmosphere, lack of any personality when it came to the staff & the time waited with zero apologies was appalling. We will not be dining here again. To add, the carpark is also tiny & very hard to get in & out. Very disappointed in this...
Read moreThe Restaurant is nicely appointed and the floor staff friendly and efficient however, I was very disappointed with the food. Ordered shared Mix Dumplings which consisted of Scallops and prawns.. there were no fillings hiding a the mass of white congealed lump of thick steamed rice paper. The prawns Dumpling had 2 or 3 tiny little pieces of prawn so very small that you couldn't put them on your fork, maybe a cut up piece of a small school prawn if that. As for the Scallop Dumpling, well it didn't resemble a Scallop at all. We also order the Salt and Pepper Squid. Again so very disappointing. The dish came as large masses think oily batter surrounding small pieces of squid. Nothing resembling Salt and Pepper Squid. To be fair the King Prawn dish had a generous number of large prawns. Will not be going back to try...
Read moreLooks like a lovely place, atmosphere was nice and shop layout was good. Nice and cosy. Lady that served me the takeaway was nice.
The biggest letdown was the special fried rice containing spam. I wish I knew this to remove it prior, it’s chopped up so finely it’s got lots of pieces per spoonful, and honestly a big pain to sort through my food and pick this out.
I Have chucked this entire dish in the bin. It would be nice to let customers know 100% it contains spam, when they phone in for the order. Never in my life have I seen spam in fried rice, ham yeh, meat yeh, spam nah… First for everything I guess… Raise your prices if you have to, to deliver a standard fried rice dish. This was just...
