This being our first time in Coffs Harbour we asked a couple of hotel staff (Front Desk & Bartender) for their recommendations. Their first recommendation being the restaurant at the Opal Cove Resort (where we were staying). Both agreed on the Tahruah Thai & Vietnamese Restaurant as their second choice, So off we went.
Tahruah Thai & Vietnamese Restaurant is located on Harbour Drive. in 'downtown' Coffs Harbour, on a kind of 'restaurant row'. It is very near our Hotel Staff's 'third' recommendation which was Indian cuisine. The restaurant is small but has additional curbside seating. I would recommend an outside table as it can get warm and humid inside.
Tahruah Thai & Vietnamese Restaurant is a family operation. Dad is the cook, mom runs the restaurant and their very sweet daughter is one of the wait staff on weekend nights (during the week she's at the house doing her homework).
We ordered the Pad See Yew noodles w/ chicken and the Pad Kaprae stir fry w/ chicken. Both were well presented and tasty, though I would have preferred them a bit spicier. I would have tried their Tom Yam soup, but at $18.50 I figured it was more than I could come close to finishing because my wife isn't a big soup (of any kind) fan.
If you find yourself in Coffs Harbour I would highly recommend you stop by the Tahruah Thai & Vietnamese...
Read moreExtremely poor service and very bad attitude to customers. I asked for a table the waitress showed me to a table that was wet and dirty. She said she would be straight back to clean and wipe dry the table straight away. It was too wet and dirty to even sit at. She never came back and just left me standing there waiting. I ordered entrée of soup and a main. It took ages then they bought the main out without ever serving the entrée. I told I ordered a soup entrée and she just shrugged. I asked her to take it back and keep it hot until I had me soup. She said no. Then when I was half way through my main they bought out my soup entrée. I complained and they ignored me. This ruined my meal. When I went to pay I asked too see the manager. She told me it was my fault because I didn't specify that I wanted my entrée entrée soup first. She said they bring all courses out together. I said you bought the soup entrée out well after the main. She said it was my fault. Worse service ever and food over priced and average. Do...
Read moreA very disappointing meal. After waiting an extensive amount of time for our food, the entrees arrived which where for the most part fine, the sauce with the spring rolls didn’t have much flavour but besides that it was fine.
Our mains of green curry, pad Thai and boiled rice came out after another wait outside in the wind next to hurling traffic. The green curry lacked flavour and spice and the pad Thai was similarly sweet. Our boiled rice was not cooked properly and parts of it were still raw.
We then order fried rice to try and justify the meal, which was much better than the previous dishes however overly salty.
Service was fine however a large umbrella stand fell onto a couple nearby and it was not...
