Babbingtons Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

We ate there yesterday for dinner. For the entree we ordered the mac and cheese croquet with pulled beef. It was alright but I think they could have put more beef in it. For my mains being it was a pasta night I thought I'll try the crab pasta with prawns in seashell broth. The presentation was nice and the food looks delicious but to my disappointment the dish was really bland and lacking some flavour. I added some salt and pepper to maybe enhance the flavour a bit but still it didn't taste nice at all even after I added some parmesan cheese to it. Since I didn't really eat the first meal I've ordered so I've ordered another pasta dish on the menu which is the Cannelloni stuffed with spinach and ricotta with roasted tomato bechamel sauce. It was nice and creamy but too rich and the pasta was a bit undercooked for me. I think it would have been nicer if it has a tomatoey sauce instead of a bechamel sauce to balance it out being the cannelloni stuffed pasta was already rich because of the ricotta cheese in it. So for the second time I was disappointed again. The only thing I enjoyed was the rocket salad with feta cheese which wasn't much at all on the dish. I'm not saying this restaurant isn't good at all but those two pasta dishes I've tried didn't really impressed me. In fact, I was quite disappointed and upset that I paid for 2 meals I didn't...

Went to get dinner with my partners family as we are visiting from out of state. We asked for a table near the window upon booking, which we were told the staff would accommodate for this. Upon arrival, we were seated at the seat closest to the exit and told the tables were already booked. Staff could have informed us that all of those tables were already booked this morning. Had we have known we would be looking at the hotel reception we would have opted to go elsewhere, not to mention that the tables by the window we were told we’re booked, we’re left empty. Staff seemed like they were unhappy about us being there. The food was mediocre at best and ridiculously overpriced for what we received. We were not given the correct utensils for the meals we ordered either. The steak was supposed to be medium rare, but was overdone. I’m not one to complain but for a restaurant that’s this expensive, you would expect the service and food...

I’d have to give this restaurant a 10 out of 10 I took my girlfriend here for her 25th birthday last Thursday night for dinner, they seated 12 of us The cocktails were absolutely Lovely Our entrees and our mains were absolutely sensational, Many thanks to the wonderful chefs presented beautiful and the flavour was absolutely divine could not fault anything that was put on the table As for the waitresses we had 2 girls Haley and Rose. They were absolutely beautiful young ladies. They went above and beyond for our table lovely service and very quick. Very polite Also, our bartender Vanessa was a lovely lady and also made us very tasty cocktails wonderful night all around
