Absolutely appalling experience at One Tree Cafe in Charlestown.
I waited over 25 minutes for a basic order. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed and completely unprepared — and instead of addressing the issue, they left the poor front-of-house staff to deal with frustrated customers. It was uncomfortable to watch and even worse to experience.
To make matters worse, they advertise a 7am opening time, but they never actually open on time. If you're not ready to serve at 7, don't list it as your opening hour. It’s misleading and unprofessional.
I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values their time — or their patience.
EDIT: after seeing the owners response I realise I should give more information. I did not come in today or on any public holiday, I came in on a weekday about a week ago. I ordered a premade from the pastry display. So sorry, but 25min for a premade is ridiculous.
Another thing to mention. The qr code to order food does not work.
Also just a note for the owner, or whoever was writing the review, please take google reviews as constructive criticism. I've looked through some of the reviews that mention similar problems that I've mentioned in my review. If people are saying the same thing, it's a problem. Grow up, take accountability, and be proactive about bettering...
Read moreDinned here for lunch with my wife, a little pricy but that comes with the geography when eating out in shopping centres, rent's for vendors can be over the top. Anyway back to the food, I had the cheese burger, excellent, moist and flavoursome there was a slight taste of smoke 5/5. My wife had the Penny ham and cheese toasty, well structured with plenty of flavour, however there was a slight vinegar flavour coming through that she didn't like, probably from the mustard, she did say it's most likely a popular toasty not just to her tasting 4/5. Drinks my latte, coffee is from a local roaster, beautiful body well rounded with a slight bitter after taste, 5/5 my only disappoint we were unable to purchase whole beans. Wife had the iced chocolate one of here favourites when dining in cafés, appeared to be made with powered chocolate, this was weak in flavour due to ice watering it down, would have prefer vanilla ice cream 3/5. Staff were very polite, well spoken and helpful, food was well presented only positive criticism here is remove the napkin from under the food. Yes we will dine there again and will recommend to anyone a great dining experience. Hopefully their coffee beans will be for sale on our...
Read moreWas charged $18 for two bagels. Bagels are displayed on menu as $6 each, with either butter or cream cheese, and the option to add other items for extra. I added avocado to one of the bagels (displayed as $4 extra). So they ripped me off $2, and I didn’t say anything because it is only two bucks but none the less. The bagels took over ten minutes to make (there was only one other group of old ladies in the store at the time who already had their coffee). My sister and I sat there while the lady who appeared to run the cafe stood in the open on her phone as well as snacking on something she’d prepared for herself first. The bagels had what appeared to be the skid marks left of an empty cream cheese container. I’m not a Karen at all, and it’s a shame because I had heard good things about this place, but I reckon there is a likelihood it’ll be gone and replaced by the next pop up store at Charlestown Square to last but months, literal...
