Carrington Bowling Club — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

I do not dislike the Carrington bowling club.Have been a few times enjoyed a poetry reading night. .found about trivia around 5 weeks ago .which I enjoy .a Lady that no doubt helps arrange game arranged for me to sit with a group. Ok personally I did not perform brilliant. Lady that I sat beside friendky. Asked me would I like to play tennis on Thursday mornings .0k am not 100percent fit but intend to try this week as every other week since rained out. Spoke about a few things with players on night .something came up about ability of our education system I commented to lady that todays STUDENTS are not taught basics like applying for job. .which with my background believe true. As per next day and since Australia wide tv and newspapers stories about Our state of NSW worst petforming education system in Australia .I believe not teachers problems its government's. Oops lady said STAN all thesepeople are teachers. No worries .turned up next tuesday four people at table front up .hello all. Stan we have full table tonight ok. Found two couples to sit with enjoyed night .Table I had originally sat had six vacant seats all night .last two weeks turned up nobody to join in with had a quite beer on lounge two weeks in a row alone. Left. I am 8oyears old on 23rd of april and a no more fair dinkum Aussie do I know .I moved here to mayfield 14months ago .spend all my waking hours campaigning and advocating for older Australians am recognised in four states for my volunteering at my expense on a pension and we all know how hard that is. My reward is the smile on peoples faces when I have successfully helped them in there need. .Nothing less .I am a people person .my oldest son died serving with our PEACEKEEPERS in Honiara in 2007 .23years in our defence force. .This lot the lied to me are so UNAUSTRALIAN. Not my way. I like the club and at times will return on ACCASIONs .I just want to make friends nothing more nothing less. Living alone can be lonely but I am never lonely....

We needed to organise a farewell bash as we were moving overseas. I rang 3 places, left messages, filled out online contact forms, and got no response, but then I spoke with Jacqui at the Carrington Bowling Club.

What an awesome person. Incredible personality, so accommodating of our needs, flexible, relaxed and caring about the success of the event. We really felt like she had our absolute best interests at heart.

Nothing was a problem. We had access to the outside BBQ area adjacent to one of the bowling greens, and there was enough seating for all of our guests. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we were able to leave all of our leftover food at the Club overnight for collection the next day, rather than have to pack it up when we'd rather be partying.

A perfect way to end our lives in Newcastle. Jacqui, you're a star! And our night at the Carrington Bowling Club will forever be fondly...

Asked for a portable ramp to allow access into the club, was provided with one, which was gr8

The floor was covered in cut grass and other garden/lawn debris and the smell was terrible, smelt like stale beer and sweat, very off-putting

To have a disable toilet pretty much unaccessible due to 1 heavy door opening inwards then straight away another heavy door opening outwards made it impossible to get into the cubicle in a powerchair unassisted, storing a pile of chairs in the room in front of the cubicle door certainly did not help

Was impressed with this little club in the beginning but today sure changed...
