I came for breakfast, but left disappointed. Ordered eggs benedict and a flat white coffee. It looked delicious, but there was no blending of flavours, everything was over powered by the holinaise sauce, not at all subtle and creamy, but just tasted like vinegar. Then I found the bottom layer of ham. Not one slice, but two. Vary generous of them I thought. But. All I could taste now was salt, salt and more salt. The bread and the egg need not have been present, because there was no hope of every tasting them. Then I found the soggy galvanised spinach. Left my mouth feeling dry. Luckily I had my coffee. I took a sip. It was bitter and over extracted. I left with the impression that they thought they served good food. Afterall, it was a generous serving. It was probably nice bread, a good egg and a good coffee machine, and each day they made the holinaise sauce, they even tasted it to see that it was right. But put it all together as eggs Benedict, and there is no harmony. All the flavours are fighting for dominance. And learn how to make coffee. It was bloody awful. The whole experience could have been so much better with the same ingredients and just a little...
Read moreThe setting at Wickham Boatshed is beautiful and the breakfast itself was delicious — definitely worth coming for the food quality and the atmosphere by the water. 🥓🍳 Unfortunately, the wait time really let the experience down. We ended up waiting around an hour for our meals, which took the shine off what could have been a really lovely morning.
To their credit, the staff were apologetic and acknowledged the delay, which we appreciated. That said, when service falls that far behind, it would have been a thoughtful gesture to waive the drinks or offer something small as compensation. Little touches like that go a long way in making customers feel valued, especially when the food and location set such a high expectation.
Overall, the food was yummy and the setting is great, but service consistency and customer care could be improved to match the quality of...
Read moreVery little street presence. Wouldn't have known they were there had I not been told by the lady in the post office across the road. Pleasant outlook on the marina walkway albeit a little industrial. Food was very good, I had the scotch fillet burger with chips and my wife had the battered fish n chips. According to my wife her fish was tasty and the batter light and crispy. My scotch fillet burger consisted of a nicely cooked steak, aioli sauce and "smoky beetroot relish". There was a bit too much aioli which made handling a little messy and the relish was a little too smoky, almost overpowering but all in all the burger was quite delicious. Meal portions were fair to generous. Pricing is reasonable I guess... similar to Pricing in my local...
