Ground Up Espresso — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

Bit disappointed today - i know they have a small menu but when asked to do something a little different (salad wrap with haloumi) could not do - owner said "just off the menu" - this is just a slight variation to a menu item - i don't think it was an unreasonable request and they were not run off their feet either - probably feel the request could have been accommodated - anyway will rethink whether we go back again 27/7/22 - did go back and ordered a fresh pineapple juice not long before closing - they used what pineapple was left and juiced it - felt at this stage i was not going to get a full cup of juice (albeit with a little ice) - correct !! about half a cup of ice which cost me about $4 for the ice - not a good feeling when i think a little effort to cut another pineapple and present the drink properly - no more for me coming...

Best coffee in Newcastle. Andy (the owner) is engaging, relaxed and efficient with his coffee making - and he knows his coffee and machine. No one else makes coffee in this store so its a quality cup every time.

The small choices of fast cakes and sandwiches are also complimented with a simple menu, combined with friendly staff and a relaxed café environment.

Locals are always here saying hello to each other. Its a warm and inviting atmosphere. Ofcourse I'll consistently return to this spot...

Unfortunately not able to give this cafe a 5/5 due to my recent experience when ordering a GF bacon and egg roll. I didn’t receive a GF bun and kindly reiterated to server that I had ordered GF and if this can be re made. Server had some attitude with my request. I already felt so bad about asking them to re make, however I had ordered GF and could not consume what was given. Was really not a pleasant experience. Coffee has also not been the best. Wont...
