Thanks for noticing that I'd posted a review for the Forster Hotel...they did have a spa bath in the corner of the main room...then only a short tumble down the spa steps to fall entwined in a very palatial bed....so the statement follows is apt ; Ooop's I HAVE left the wrong comment here at the Fish Co-op...but having an outdoor spa may just get us back next summer. Seriously the food was excellent and the both of us shouldn't have had the chips...but they were blooooody fantastic. As we sat near the side of the fish shop we felt we were in pommie land because of the lad taking and handing out orders. His accent and the story he'd told earlier of family members in Great Britain having COVID.... Makes Australia the Bluddy Lucky Country. My wife loved the grilled whiting fillets sitting above the salad of mixed leaves...we'll definitely recommend and come back. I can't remember what I had...scallops I think...mainly because I was BUUUSSSSSTING to use a toilet facility. Be warned...there are no...NO toilet faculties nearby. Had to find one near the Port using Google maps. I managed to find a SEIKO watch shop too. Then saw Freddy Fittler step out from a cab. Looks like he'd had a tactical long lunch. Mate...ya shoulda had Fish & Chips at the Co-op. But looking at the wobble in his step...he at least had a homely toilet to access. Plus ya didn't have to wear a 3 piece suit at the Co-op Fish Shop. We'll...

It seem to be popular for locals around there so I walk in to check it out and spotted a couple of items and thought I will be back to get them after I have my lunch. Just about to walk out to the exit door and one staff member was mopping the floor with no wet floor signs anywhere. As I stepped onto the wet floor approaching the exit door a lady at the checkout yelled at me “NO NO NO GO TO THE OTHER DOOR” at the other end of the building and shaking her head at me I look to her with strong eyes and she realised that she had just been so rude to me with no reason. She changed her attitude because that voice caught the attention of everyone in a shop. The she said “please use another door,” but that doesn’t make me feel any better. I walked out and said to another customer that she is so rude and even the Aussie gentleman in front of me said she was very mean and rude then I say to him if they don’t want the customer walk out from that door just put the barricade and sign instead of yelling to people like that. No workplace safety whatsoever, disrespectful employees who need to learn to think before they speak and have some common decency and respect for customers. Street food shop treat their customers better than that...

They have a decent variety of seafood, but their prices are extremely high. I can get King Crab legs from Woolworth's (when they have it) for $40 per kilo, yet this store want $80 per kilo for the same product which comes from the same suppliers that are either US (around Alaska) or Russia (around Alaska). Unless my timing was wrong for visiting before Easter, and they had jacked up their price for the occasion. Had a craving for king Crabs, since I ate all 10 kilos I bought from Woolworth's, and drove 35 minutes to this store. It just happened to be Easter. (As an Atheist I don't keep up with holiday feasts). There were many many people milling around. Had a look around the store and although they did have King Crabs, I will not pay no less than double for something I can get elsewhere. I am sure others have no issues with paying that much, since they appear...

I called in to the fish markets and got some prawns and a fish and some scallops the staff was friendly and very helpful with questions that I asked there's not a lot you can say about a fish markets but I recommend this place to all travellers and people who live in Newcastle if you haven't tried the fish and the prawns give it a go from mwh

An organised business though the prices on 23/12 were insane compared to Sydney options. Prawns lightly orange coloured and questionably salty. Thumbs up for the COVID-19 queue organisation but inside the customers did not adhere to any safe distancing. Good for a visit, would consider elsewhere next time for me.

The best fish co-op north of Sydney, always fresh and delicious with a great variety of seafood on offer, remember to take a ticket on entry and with plenty of staff on hand makes it a quick service, plenty of parking right out the front , right behind is the Newcastle waterfront where the trawlers home .
