5 stars for the cakes but⌠I asked to have a $27 cake cut into 12 pieces. I was told to phone ahead for cake alterations. I hinted that it was absurd that a bakery couldnât cut a cake on the spot and the staff member conceded and cut the cake. The cake was then presented in 16 pieces. Which wasnât a drama.
The following week I went back to order another cake. At checkout I asked âis it true that I need to call ahead to have a cake cut into 12 slices?â
The response I received was âYes, you need to call ahead because our staff are very busyâ
Again, knowing that what I was asking for wasnât unreasonable, I insisted that the cake be cut.
The staff member handed it to a junior staffer, who grabbed a knife, cut the cake and put it into the box. A process that took less than 20 seconds. It was also cut into 12 slices this time.
Today I went back and purchased another cake. At the checkout I was asked if there was anything else I would like with the cake.
I asked if she might be so kind as to cut it into 12 slices. I was met with a distasteful look and told yet again, that they are too busy and I must phone ahead.
I could do nothing but laugh and tell the lady that her response was turning into a joke.
Iâm left asking what has led to a business being so disconnected from its customers that they can ignore such a simple request and make a customer feel like they are requesting a significant inconvenience at a cake shop.
Iâm also left wondering how a business can get so much right, but fall so short when asked of such a simple service to its...
Read moreWe gave this place a good try but ultimately decided after several visits that they weren't for us.
The biggest complaint is the coffee, which is usually poorly made, but the occasion I got a very well-made coffee it still didn't taste good. I find their blend tastes thin, bitter, and slightly burnt.
The pies have excellent pasty but the filling is too gelatinous and goopy and the taste was disappointing for the three types I have tried. The pepper steak pie was peppered to death. The quiche was over-salted.
The small desserts are mostly very good and there is a nice selection. I really like the berry cheesecake, which is nice and light and fruity. The cake we ordered for a birthday looked the part but was a bit bland taste wise.
The service is good and though there is usually a queue, it moves quickly. The opening hours are very convenient. They cater well for children, including high chairs and colored pencils and paper. There is plenty of seating.
Overall, we really wanted to like this place but it falls frustratingly short of greatness. If they could fix the coffee we'd go there for...
Read moreFamished after exploring Lake Macquarie, The Euro Patisserie comes highly recommended. I came here at lunch time and it's so busy here.
I got the quiche and a healthy salad (because what's coming after is naughty!). Yum and what a fresh tangy salad. Fresh produce you can taste.
The quiche has quite a crunchy rim, a bit too crunchy for my liking but otherwise the parry is delicious as is the light filling which is yum. The salad is much needed to balance the slightly rich filling of the quiche.
Of course, I'm mainly here for those wonderful patisserie items! So much to choose, ooh, I'm like a kid in a candy shop!
Strawberry cheese tart which disappeared in no time, so yum!
Mars bar bon eclair - like a huge sweet hamburger! I've eaten some and it's heavy, gooey, chocolatey and so decadent. Just like a mars bar.
Cold set mixed berry cheesecake - saved for tomorrow, c'mon I'm not a pig! It turned out to be delicious. So light like cream and an excellent cheesecake with the berries balancing the flavours out....
