I dined here on Saturday night for my friends 40th. The only reason I am giving two stars is because my meal of the salt and pepper squid was a good meal. Unfortunately everything else not. As soon as we arrived the blonde lady said I need to know how many are booked my friend said she confirmed by text it was for 20 not 30 (I was there when she confirmed) the table was set for 28. She said I need to know asap how many you need and my friend said 20 is fine and it's ok if you take a table away. Which they did that was fine. We ordered our meals separate for table 14. Meals were staggered all over again fine. But then the birthday girl and her children on one order and 2 friends on another all waited at least 30-40 mins after we had all eaten before getting their meals. A child waiting that long? I've worked hospitality as a manager for 15 years.. we asked 3 times about the meals with no apologies. Make the kids meals asap.. as every other hospitality place does, that's my advice. Then after their meals came a young lady ordered steak with sauce on the side. It was taken away to be brought back to the table by the blonde, who said did you order the sauce on the side, yes she did and stated twice she wanted it on the side, then it was said to her this is the last 300g steak either you have this one or order something different. Then the kids ice cream was forgotten and 20 mins later we had to go up and ask about it .If this is the manager or even a supervisor I would suggest you rethink her for this role. The way she spoke to this table was horrific and her body language. I have always told people I am training, if one person has something bad to say they tell 2 people who then tell two people, it's a domino effect. You have a table of 17 adults who have something bad to say to others. I wasn't going to write this, but you can't rectify mistakes or behaviours without someone giving feedback. I honestly hope you look into this because for us it ruined our evening and I won't...

The new management of this bistro contacted me last week and requested that I remove my prior review. I am glad he did. I had lunch there today with a party of four. You’ll see my picture of the menu, fairly standard pub menu. We ordered the garlic baguette, two servings of the salt and pepper squid, a mushroom burger, a barramundi burger and a Caesar salad with chicken. The bistro and the bar was absolutely full and we still managed to be served within 25 minutes. Including a round of drinks the whole experience was about $150. There was a fair share of salt and pepper squid on both plates, fresh and tender. The mushroom burger contain mushroom lightly fried in a batter and tasty enough. The chips were the best that I’ve had in sometime. Very crisp yet lightly fried. The Caesar salad shown had the right amount of everything but the dressing could’ve used a bit of a twist. My only disappointment on the day was that the online menu contains stuffed zucchini flowers, which I was really looking forward to, however once we arrive there, it was not on the hardcopy menu. Other than that, I can say the new management of the bistro has redeemed the food there. I had a great experience and will probably go there again. I do need to add, I hate eating chips and usually leave them, but these I...

We had the pleasure of dining for lunch at the General Washington Hotel in Stockton yesterday, and it truly exceeded all expectations for a hotel dining experience. Our group of four enjoyed an array of outstanding dishes that showcased the chef’s skill and creativity. We started with the zucchini flowers, crispy chicken wings, and roast pumpkin arancini - each dish packed with flavor and perfectly executed. The mussels were fresh and delicious, the grilled barramundi was cooked to perfection, and the sirloin steak was tender and full of flavor. The highlight of the meal, however, was the French crepes from the specials board. Filled with Nutella and served with fresh berries, vanilla bean ice cream, and flambé bananas, they were absolutely divine. This dish deserves a permanent spot on the menu! The quality of the food and the care in its preparation truly stood out. I highly recommend the General Washington Hotel for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Stockton. We’ll...

The General Washington Hotel is a friendly pub located about the 200 metres from the Stockton ferry wharf. Views of Griffith Park and the ship movements along the Hunter River. Staff are good - although the waitress asked me if my meal was good after she served it to me - In my opinion, if the meal isn't good, then I'll tell the staff - My wife knows that one thing I don't like is waitresses asking if the meal is 'OK' - It happens a lot mostly in the US - but yesterday, it happened to me at a pub in Stockton - I didn't expect that. My meal tasted great. Parking located outside the hotel. Tables also located outside the hotel. The hotel is located a short 200 metre walk from the Stockton shopping district. This pub is worth dropping in to if you are visiting the area.
