Lowlands Bowling Club — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

Attended the lowlands bowling club for a corporate Christmas party this year. Our Christmas party started at 6 pm, food was not served until 8:30 pm and were told at 8:45 pm that due to noise restrictions in the area, we either had to migrate inside the club where they had limited seating due to Covid restrictions still in place or we had to leave the venue. Trying to fit approximately 250 people that were seated outside into an indoor venue that looked to only hold no more than 100 people was obviously not going to work and unfortunately the frustration caused by this was to be expected. None of this was mentioned to any of the groups having their Christmas parties there also prior to the event and left many people furious. The staff were clearly struggling to manage patrons trying to enforce Covid rules however one minute we were being let into the club and two seconds later being kicked out because of numbers. This could have been managed better. Only positive that we could take from this event was that the food...

Had a relative in a wheelchair. Entry into club was not user friendly. First door we came to was a sliding door which would have been good to use, except there was no ramp so this door couldn't be accessed by a wheelchair. The next door had access for the wheelchair but had an opening door which is extremely difficult to use. Try opening a door and pushing a wheelchair at the same time. Also people were coming in and out every few minutes to pick up food or go to the bar - try sitting there at a table where every few minutes the door is banged shut. Couldn't wait to finish our meal and leave. Very disappointing....

We just had our Christmas party at Lowlands Bowling Club. I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone that helped make the night a great one! Michelle was fantastic to deal with when booking the venue. Nothing was a problem and she was extremely accommodating. To all of the staff on the night, thank you. You made the bar tab a breeze and looked after us all so well. Big shout out to the bar supervisor on the night whose communication was brilliant. She really went above and beyond for us! We had a great area and were so well looked after. I would not hesitate to book a function at Lowlands again...
