Bar Beach Skate Park — Attraction in Newcastle-Maitland

Great bowl. Pretty massive. About 10 or 11 foot deep in the deep end and about 7 foot in the shallow. Poor street section design and very small as also indicated by other comments and what a lot of people say there. But Skaters of all ages and great, friendly atmosphere there. Would be awesome to have a medium sized bowl next to it as well like the new one at East Maitland to build up skills, plenty of room there... Maybe replace the street section with a medium sized bowl and run a new street section along the back of it alongside the foot path?. Similar to the street section design of the new ones at East Maitland...

I'm a local here and it's a damn shame so much of the budget was wasted on huge concrete "seats" surrounding the entire park. Some questionable design choices in the street section, it bottlenecks in the middle which means less people can skate at the same time. Still lots of fun to be had, it just sucks knowing the budget could have been utilised better to have a larger less cramped...

Took me quite a while living in Newy to build up the courage to drop in, but once you do this thing is amazing! Big bowl, need plenty of speed to navigate but what a ride once you get comfortable...
