Well. Usually we stop here to just grab a takeaway coffee and kept wondering what it would be like food wise. Yeah you'll see some low reviews here and they probably had reasons for those things they complained about. Yay. You've had your 5 minutes of my attention and I disagree. The staff. Now I don't know if that guy with the amazing moustache is the owner and the lovely gal running around with him is his wife but I assume they are based on the conversation we had with a regular lovely old lady sitting across from us. The drinks we ordered consisted of Life on Mars(Mango), Starman (Raspberry) and a Large Caramel Latte. They gave us a few minutes and we just couldn't decide but on their specials they had the works burger and she got the Prawn Burrito Bowl... OK the mean on the burger was very simple with a lovely crust but still had pink through the centre. My critique there would be to ask the customer if they want that level. I have Medium Rare so for me it worked well. That sauce was awesome and the chips very much enjoyed. I truly made a mess of the sauce over the chips and was to the point of wiping the bowl with the chips. Yum. My gals Prawn Burrito Bowl... That was awesome. Flavours perfect. For her liking she would have had less spinach or had it wilted with the prawns cause that would have punched it up a notch. The drinks came our before the food so ordering both at the same time might be a thing for some people but I would happily order two of those drinks. Yum. Overall loved it. Will be back.

I visited Son of a Gun on the morning of October 20, 2025 around 9 am, to grab a coffee after noticing that the place had a good number of people enjoying breakfast in a pleasant and positive atmosphere. I ordered a dine-in coffee, and the customer service girl was very nice and friendly. However, after waiting about five minutes, I still hadn’t been served, even though others who came after me had already received their orders. I asked a waiter about my coffee, but he seemed confused and asked if it was for takeaway or dine-in. I showed him my payment receipt, and he said he would check on it. After waiting another five minutes with no update, I had to ask another staff member and explain the situation again. Fortunately, after about ten more minutes, I finally received my coffee — which, to be fair, was excellent in quality and taste. Overall, I really appreciated the coffee itself, but the slow and disorganized service was disappointing, especially considering the café wasn’t very busy at the time.

What a disappointment! When we sat down we were told happy hour was finishing in 15 minutes which was cool, so we ordered drinks nothing was mentioned about only being beer and wine on half hour. We only found this out when we got the bill. The burghers were ok but nothing to rave about. I ordered the bbq plater for $40. Really not impressed what a rip off. The brisket was no more than small pieces of thinly sliced roast beef that had no taste of being in the smoker, it actually looked like the scraps off the cutting board. The shredded pork was poor and 2 chicken wings were terrible actually had a funny taste to them and may of been off. The cheese macaroni also was unedible. Very disappointing and feel ripped off overall

Super disappointing dining experience.

They had a special advertised on a sign outside which drew us inside to eat dinner. We weren’t advised this special was unavailable until after we had already ordered drinks.

We contemplated leaving as the menu wasn’t overly broad but decided to stay and give some other stuff a try and really regretted it.

Cheeseburger came out and looked good but the patty was the worst I have ever had, was super crispy on the outside (almost burnt), but had a soggy, mushy texture on the inside and was more like a rissole than hamburger patty. Other than the gross patty, mustard was the only flavour that was evident, very overpowering.

Chipotle chicken loaded fries were super average, came out with unseasoned shredded chicken breast (odd choice for loaded fries) had no chipotle flavour at all and only found 1 piece of diced bacon in the whole serve, the ranch sauce was nice though.

Onion rings, we’re frozen pre-crumbed rings you would expect from mid 2000’s hungry jacks, not worth the $9.50 they charge.

The southern fried chicken and waffles were again very average. The waffles were stale and fairly cold when they came out, the jalapeño bacon butter and maple syrup were already spread on the waffles which didn’t allow any control over the flavours. Chicken was cooked okay, but had no “southern” flavour or seasoning.

Overall these four dishes (two entrees, two mains) and two soft drinks cost over $70, which is the worst part of the experience, as that’s premium prices for well below average food.

It might be a nice place for a drink, but I would strongly advise against coming...

We went for my husband's birthday as it was somewhere our kids had been before (with their grandmother). The kids were desperate to go there again. Service was brilliant. Vanilla Thick shake and Life on Mars juice were delicious. 10/10 The food started with Poutine (fabulous) and garlic bread ( unfortunately it was drizzled with dill sauce, not sure why but it was yuck). Unfortunately the the cheeseburgers had no discernable cheese, but did have barely cooked bacon, over onioned meat patty and a drowning of sauce which made it worst dining experience we've had. lucky the kids were hungry. My bowl of food looked amazing but again all I could taste was Dill. The waiter asked multiple times if everything was okay he even came back after clearing the plate to say he noticed it was untouched I told him I had made a rushed choice Soi just accepted that I must have missed the mention of dill and he left it at that. However when we got the car and i re read the menu the over dilled sauce that ruined my meal was meant to be salsa verde. I would say def go back for the service and the Poutine and drinks but given the crappy burgers we got on this occasion and I cannot get the Dill flavour our of my mouth (I only had one bite ) we...
