Saturday night, Hamilton restaurant in Beaumont street, 4 people, 6:30pm booked and $251 dollars later. Was told by staff that they didn’t have a table for us, due to not being told what our preference was when we booked. I was not asked about table preference over the phone so I had to sit in the low-lounge/booth area. Me and my friend are over 6ft tall.
Was told by staff that other staff had not shown up to work that evening and they are short staffed. (Fair call, it happens) we sat in the booth area, no drinks were offered straight away, no cutlery, drink glasses or serviettes where on the table… had to ask for this.
Drinks took a long time to come out, ordered the entrees, they were average, bread was hard, food was average. Asked for hommus, was told they will bring some out by one staff, waiting 15mins and asked another staff who said that hommus is Lebanese dip and they don’t have it. Mains came out, average again, nothing special to rave about. The mixed dips that was supplied was dull and not flavourful. The cocktails we ordered were horrendous. Some sour and some watered down heavily. We didn’t finish them. The chicken and lamb skewers were the only good thing about the food.
I wanted to take the leftover skewers home to eat for lunch the next day as we ordered a lot but they don’t supply takeaway containers.
Finally, the live music/entertainment was a guy singing songs from BARRY WHITE & MICHAEL JACKSON MUSIC. IN AN EGYPTIAN RESTAURANT.
I won’t be...
Read moreThe entree (king valley mixed entees) was an amazing blend of flavours and tastes, the falafel had an brilliant aroma, the 2 vine leaves were so rich in texture and flavour and the bread with the Homus, baba ghanoush and the yogurt Zabadi Salata
The salads are fantastic, a good blend of freshness with the acidity of the vinegar that doesn't takeaway from the other meals
The Lamb Koftas is amazingly tasty, fresh and full of flavour, good level of crisp on the outside with a rich texture inside
SHAWERMA and bread was a gift from the heavens, the presentation of it was picture perfect. The way the flavours rolled off the tongue as meat practically melted in the mouth. The yogurt sauce on top blends the taste of the meats, onions and spices so well with sweet and tanginess
The music was captivating and atmosphere just captured the spirit of Egypt and the fantastic cuisines it has, overall painting such a wonderful and welcoming environment for friends and families to come and enjoy a meal
Finally to round out the night we got the dessert Om Ali, each bite was bursting with flavours of creamy sweet sultana with a crunch of coconut! Fresh out of the oven it was a nice hot delightful treat to finish...
Read moreWas excited about trying this place out as we love egyptian food. We were far from impressed. The bathrooms had no taps and when I informed the staff they attempted to imply that both had must of just broken, finishing with that is why they have wet wipes there. In other words they fully knew that they were broken. Hopefully they have sonce been fixed. The restaurant was full with a family celebration. The table was filthy and we had to ask for it to be wiped down. The food was mediocre at best. The dips and mezze didn't include bread, that was extra. The bread was cheap supermarket flat bread, cardboard would have been tastier. The dishes were bland and small servings at a premium price. Happy to pay for quality, which this was not. The egyptian salad was the same as the garnishes, nothing special. Service was clunky at best, in their defence they were busy and clearly understaffed so I was quite happy to go to the bar and grab extra drinks, only to find the staff member scrolling on the phone. If you sit outside you get none of the belly dancing show. Better off going to the Persian...
