I made and error on my order. I called right away to ask how to amend it. Was told they can't do anything by the manager Jade. I said to cancel the order. Was told they can't do that either. I told them not to make it, to save food spoilage as I'd accidentally ordered pick up not delivery and I couldn't get there. The conversation went in circles and was infuriating. I'm new to ordering food online so needed help trouble shooting. It seemed to me after the fact they were rude and blunt from the get go as they must get pissed off with third-party ordering mistakes. Many times in the conversation Jade would say listen to me, if you will just listen etc etc 5 or more times. To which I would say I'm listening but you're not saying anything. What do you want to say. Then nothing. And start talking about what they CANT do. Then listen to me if you'd just listen. Then say nothing. It dawned on me Jade might just want to sound the victim of another pain in the arse customer to her colleges. Because I was listening and actively encouraging her to trouble shoot. Yes I'm listening. And round she'd loop again saying nothing. Eventually she said they can deliver if I pay them a delivery charge as I could not work out how to amend my order with the third party. Now wouldn't that have been nice to hear as an option when I first called. Instead of two phone conversations, rude staff and me utterly annoyed. I would have had no trouble paying them a delivery charge. I won't eat here again. I wonder where the hospitality has gone. Why are customers made to feel like such an...

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price

I recently dined at Sticky Rice in Wickham and was left very disappointed with both the food quality and customer service. I ordered the tempura prawns, the duck chicken curry, and the tom yum fried rice with chicken and extra vegetables.

Unfortunately, the “tempura” prawns were not tempura at all. They were uniform, crumbed, and completely straight – clearly straight from a frozen packet. When I raised this with the staff, I was met with an unhelpful and unprofessional response: “I don’t know, don’t ask me.” That level of customer service is simply unacceptable.

The tom yum fried rice was meant to come with extra vegetables, yet I received only one snow pea, three tiny pieces of broccoli, and a few indistinguishable slivers of vegetables. When I queried this, I was told the vegetables were in there – which felt dismissive and misleading.

The duck chicken curry was the highlight – flavourful and enjoyable – but it lacked colour and substance. A few more vegetables would have really helped round it out and given better value for the price.

For the price point, this meal was incredibly underwhelming. With several excellent Thai restaurants nearby – including one near the interchange and another on the Honeysuckle foreshore – I won’t be returning to Sticky Rice. Those other venues consistently deliver quality food and service, unlike what I...

Came here due to a decent review score, the experience was everything but that. Don’t be fooled. Not sure if the bar for Thai food is low in Newcastle, but this was a culinary wreck.

Tom Yum soup was far too sweet, not sour at all. Definitely overpriced for portion size.

The pineapple fried rice was overly salty, and there was probably as much MSG as pineapple by weight. Chicken pieces were not cut to a wieldy shareable size.

The Siam Duck’s specialty sauce is more like 9 parts oyster sauce, 1 part hoisin sauce. Limited portions but there was probably enough sauce there to cook 3 more dishes. Definitely over-seasoned and unpalatable.

The seafood special looked impressive at first, but that is all there was to it. Not sure why the seafood came in the form of a bird. There was hardly any seafood in it (definitely not local fresh as advertised). There was once again a smothering quantity of red curry paste. Red curry is amazing, but thick paste is not.

Finally, dessert was extremely limited to 2 options and came very slow. For a place called sticky rice, the dessert of the same did not live up to its namesake.

Overall, a very disappointing Thai food experience. Would not dine here. Definitely overdosed on the week’s sugar and salt recommended intake from one meal....

$9.50 green tea is end of the relationship for me! It was a cold and dreary night and without consulting the menu I ordered a green tea. The tea was fine I guess, just a very ordinary tea bag; it helped against the blustering wind that was coming through the wide open door on a 10 degree night. But $9.50 for a teabag that cost them next to nothing! I’d always tossed up between Sticky Rice, Kinn and Benjamas. The food was lacklustre this visit - pad see ew lacked flavour, veg consisted of 2 pieces of carrot, and just a handful of dry chicken. Got the pork ribs special and just don’t! Pretty ordinary. The wait staff are nice enough, but their poor English makes any communication difficult, and they aren’t very attentive. Ambience- exposed to extremities, hard stools, and. TV screen. The orchid shoved in the beer doesn’t make up for the ambience. I wonder if the increase in delivery services has meant they prefer this type of business - I definitely wasn’t inspired to return. And did they soften on the $9.50 tea at the register? Absolutely not. So here we are. Thnks fr th mmrs
