My dining experience at this cafe was so poor that I would not consider going back again. We arrived at the restaurant just before 12 noon on Saturday. Our coffee order was taken straight away and the coffee came promptly. The coffee was fairly average; milk was ok but coffee beans tasted cheap and yet the price of the coffee on the menu was quite expensive. This would not have mattered if everything else had been good but it wasn't. After waiting for around 20 minutes to have our food order taken, I requested to order from the waitress. However, I was told that there was a queue, and that I would have to wait until other people who had arrived before me had ordered. Once we had finally ordered the food took well over an hour to come out. At around the 55 minute mark, I asked the waitress to find out what had happened to our food and informed her about how long we had been waiting. We were told that our food was not too far away and that the chef was happy to remove the coffees from our bill. Our food did not arrive until 12:20pm, nearly 1 1/2 hours after we had initially arrived at the restaurant. I ordered the Cambodian beef salad and my partner ordered the chicken burger will hand cut chips. The elements of my beef salad that were meant to be hot were almost cold and it tasted more Thai than Cambodian. The flavours, however, were still nice. My partner's burger was good, although the chicken was a bit dry. The chips were soggy and it was obvious that the cause of this was that the oil in which they were fried had not been hot enough. Overall, I was so annoyed at how long my food had taken that I could not really enjoy my meal. Although we received a friendly apology from a waitress from another section who had come to check on us, our original waitress did not apologise and appeared cold...
Read moreDinner tonight @TalulahBar, a sleek setting with a lovely ambience and warm cosy feel, a lovely setting for any occasion.
I started with cured kingfish, wasabi cashew cream, quick pickle
Such a refreshing dish bursting with freshness and subtle flavour, a wonderful way to start.
Marinated beef skewers, fresh herbs
Lovely char on the outside and really yum with that lovely smooth warming pumpkin. Either the cut of the meat or maybe it needed cooking just a tad longer, as some bits were chewy.
Charred broccolinni, sesame ginger vinaigrette
This compliments the beef well. Cooked but holding crunch with a lovely vinaigrette to coat the broccolinni, this was yum.
Always time for dessert, this looked appealing: Vanilla bean ice cream, poached pear, honey, pistachio
Delicious flavour soaked tender poached pear, but would have like more of it! Instead there's 2 scoops of delicious vanilla ice cream atop gooey sticky honey which starts to take over the dish a bit. Like the crunch from the nuts and adds to the texture.
Thanks @TalulahBar for fantastic aetive and a...
Read moreLast time we came here the food was delicious but we saw a cockroach crawling on the seat behind us and was hesitant to go back.
Today we went back. My friend had Eggs Benny and it was spot on and flavourful.
I had the fried chicken burger today as suggested by a Google review, however it was a letdown as the fried chicken batter was burnt and bitter. The chicken was juicy but bland. I also didnât like the overall taste of the burger.
The service was not great today. The staffs were inattentive. We sat down for over 5min and didnât have the menu on the table. I had to ask the staff to give it to us.
Furthermore, the food took almost an hour to be served after we ordered. There was no update from the staff or apologies. We had to try to ask for it after waiting for almost an hour. So Iâd say donât go there if youâre already hungry before you reach the cafe because you probably wonât get your food fast.
Such a pity as the food usually has great flavour but the service and the wait today was...
