me and some friends came in around 9am on the 2nd of Feb and ordered coffee and some food to dine in. when my friends coffee came out, a long black with caramel syrup, i could smell the caramel syrup from across the table and she said it was so unbearably sweet it was undrinkable. i tried some and agreed (coming from someone who usually takes double caramel in my coffee). my friend went to the counter and asked nicely if she could have it remade with less caramel and apologised profusely for being “difficult” (despite the fact that the coffee was clearly made with well above the recommended amount of syrup - we are both baristas) the waiter who took the bad coffee delivered my food and threw it down on the table, almost sliding it off the edge, and immediately walked away without saying anything or looking at me, and the girl who delivered the new made coffee did the same thing to my friend. no one apologised for the mistake or subsequent appalling behaviour. my friend left feeling like she was the one being rude and unreasonable, which was not the case, and, although the food was actually quite good, we will certainly not be returning on account of the horrible service and rude nature of the staff we encountered. as one in the hospitality business myself, i know how easy it is to apologise and at least pretend to be kind to even the most annoying customers. what we encountered was...

When we first arrived, we were promptly seated. The table and chairs were thoroughly wiped down and sanitised as well as being carefully placed to adhere to social distancing. Befote our orders were taken, our sign ins were checked which added another layer of accountability for the establishment which we appreciated! I appreciated that the menu was changeable for dietary requirements and that the menu was extensive and had a lot of different options. I started with an almond milk latte was caramel which is one of the best coffees I had while in the Green Hills area! I highly recommend the smashed avo with Mexican sweet corn, which came with a balsamic glaze which heightened the taste of the overall meal! My dining partner ordered the mushrooms with haloumi meal which he noted was full of flavour and light. I highly recommend this place for different breakfast/brunch and lunch options! I used to love coming here, and I would come in at least twice a week. I know its very busy all the time and I dont mind waiting. My issue is the service lately has been poor, every time I've been waiting for my order to be taken way too long, with staff cleaning tables around me, taking others orders who were there after me, its frustrating and I try to be subtle with looks and hints. My other problem is the food. It has been disappointing the last 4 times I have been. My last encounter on Tuesday, I had the soup of the day, pumpkin, it came out and even though the bowl so hot to touch, I had a spoonfuls, of cold soup. The soup tasted like canned soup, I always make my own and buy elsewhere, I can taste the difference. I only ate half the bowl as I was hungry. It went back to the kitchen and just chucked in the microwave anyway which is how it was cooked for the first time too I think.
