The MarketTown Shopping Centre: a place where retail therapy meets a carnival of consumerism! Upon stepping foot into this retail wonderland, prepare to embark on a journey that's as eclectic as your aunt's collection of porcelain cats.
Navigating the labyrinthine corridors of shops is an adventure akin to a treasure hunt, with each storefront revealing unexpected delights or dangerously discounted deals. One moment you're ogling the latest fashion trends, the next you're contemplating whether a life-sized garden gnome is an essential addition to your decor.
The shopping centre's diverse crowd is a spectacular show in itself. People-watching becomes an Olympic sport as you witness fashion-forward teens strutting alongside grandmas wheeling their trolleys at top speeds. It's a real-life sitcom, where the characters are as varied as the number of stores peddling cellphone accessories.
And don't get me started on the food court - a culinary carnival that dares you to try international cuisine with a local twist. From sushi burritos to pizza-topped poutine, it's a gastronomic adventure that your taste buds won't soon forget, or possibly, ever forgive.
Sure, finding your way out of this retail maze might require a compass and a map, but the potential cardio workout is a small price to pay for the thrill of the hunt. Just remember to bring your sense of humor, a daring spirit, and possibly a friend who owes you a favor to help carry those bags.
In a world where shopping online is becoming the norm, the MarketTown Shopping Centre remains a vivid, in-person reminder that retail therapy is best experienced when it's a whirlwind of eccentricity, laughter, wit, and the occasional impulse buy you'll still be scratching your head about when...
Read moreOkay shopping centre, never had much troubles but there is a homeless / beggar problem where the bus stands are but not sure if there's much Marketown can do about that.
2nd issue is there's always annoying an charity or cause set up near the entrance to Woolworths . If you ever knew people you'd know there here for a reason and that's to shop and spend money, not get harassed by people running a charity whatever cause is set up in the centre space today, these people from the charity stands can tell your not interested in them but still go to approach you, I wonder how much of their cause money actually goes towards what their fighting for? I understand the people from the charity may be volunteers and of course are only doing their job but I'm sick to death of coming here to do my shopping and always getting approached or nearly stopped by them. I guess if their paying Marketown money to be in the mall the centre management couldn't care less...
Read moreFrom the PO Box steps in the North Western corner (which often smell of urine), to one of the last remaining Henny Penny franchises at its South Eastern end, Marketown has seen Newcastle grow into the blossoming wonder she is today. Marketown has an array of new and old shops including Sweet Poison and Harry's Schnitzels and the last remaining Video Ezy in the CBD (or possibly the universe) To me, Marketown is more a metaphor for life. We accept those that don't know the difference between a trough and a Post Office, it has the old, the new, and the poor bastard 2 doors down that had a stroke 5 years ago and hasn't been the same since (Video Ezy). If anything, Marketown is a friendly reminder that we're all in...
