Nothing but a huge disappointment. Ok service, nice atmosphere but unfortunately below average food, over priced and small amount. Definitely not fine dinning. A friend and I ordered the festival platter, cost $89.00. The lamb cutlets were good but nothing special, unfortunately this was the only good element. The prawns were extremely over cooked, chicken, kebab and vegetables also dry and over cooked with none of the bold, rich and fresh flavours to be expected with this type of cuisine. The salad, rice, and side condiments suffered from the same underwhelming and bland flavours and were no better than jarred and packet products you can buy at the super market. The charcoal box on the table for heating turned out to be just a gimik as there was not enough food provided on this $89.00 platter to last long enough to need it, oh except to heat the bread that was almost cold when served. They did send out some fresh prawns that were much better but being as though this place tries to present as fine dinning any decent chef would not have allowed the first batch to leave the kitchen or any of the meats with the exeption of the lamb cutlets. It was to late to go to another restaurant so we went to Woolworths and got things for a cheese platter😂😑. We cannot comment on the cocktails as we didnt have any.......But they actually charge you for the table water that they don't mention until you get the bill, now this is more like fine dinning haha. We have been in nowra for 6mnths for work and there are definitely much better and cheaper options especially for a good curry. Unfortunately cube is just another place trying so hard to be something it definitely is not and fails in the most important part.....producing good Indian style food. Normally if one thing has a problem there is room to fix it but there was nothing that could identify cube as fine dinning from the food we were served, oh except the price and small portion, this you expect at fine dinning. Which is fine if everything is perfect and really delicious , completely unlike cube. If you have no budget, no taste buds or just don't know what good Indian food is meant to be like....... You might actually...
Read moreAs a Nowra local who was looking for somewhere different to eat, I’m now kicking myself that I hadn’t been here before! Qube is advertised as a bar & grill, and it is, but the kicker is that it’s also the best Indian food in town. The food is top notch, with authentic Indian flavours loaded with fresh ingredients and spices. We had Bhajiya for entree, Chicken Vindaloo, naan, rice, and vegetarian “Say No Meat” grilled skewer set for mains, with lavender lemonade mocktails to drink and finished with Chai Tiramisu.
Bhajiya were made from a mix of vegetables. The spinach leaves were delightful, crunching like a chip. There was a nod to the more commonly found onion bhaji with a garish of pickled onions, seasoned well including a whiff of fresh coriander. Yoghurt mint sauce was wonderful, BBQ sauce less exciting but fitting the grill theme.
Chicken vindaloo was made with love! Tender, melt in the mouth dark boneless chicken pieces, hot and spicy without being overpowering, and a rich mix of aromatic herbs and spices through the gravy that tasted like they were freshly ground and mixed for preparation. A real treat from the first bite to the last.
The charcoal grilled skewers were a special experience. Cooked in the kitchen and then brought out with a bed of hot charcoal to stay hot and taste smoky. Roasted vegetables, paneer, corn cob all with different Indian flavoured marinades, and a side of rice, naan, garlic and mint yoghurt sauce.
The chai tiramisu was a great finish. The chai spices didn’t shine through as much as I hoped but no regret in ordering it.
Kid’s menu also available - our toddler wasn’t in a great mood so we played it safe with chicken nuggets and chips but there are other options more fitting the restaurant theme like chicken skewers, and butter chicken.
Service was a little slow and sometimes hard to get a server’s attention, but obliging, happy and professional when you had their attention.
Not many tables were filled so this restaurant still seems to be a well-kept secret. No need for it to be though - highly...
Read moreTerribly disappointed with Qube. I’m a fan of charcoal grilled food. So I was eager to try the BBQ platter. The imagery on their website shows skewers of meat and skewers of vegetables grilled at your table over charcoal. The BBQ platter menu states “All platters accompanied with 5 charcoal skewers “. The tables had a BBQ built in to them however the staff member explained that they don’t grill at your table any longer for over a year. He said they BBQ the skewers in the kitchen and then remove the meat from the skewers and serve it on the platter. I ordered the Festive platter. The platter I received did not have any charcoal grilled vegetables only a clump of boiled/curry veg. Also the lamb meat was not charcoal grilled - it was stewed/boiled meat. I hate such “mushy” meat! I sent the platter back as it did not match the menu description. Furthermore only 2 of the 5 “BBQ” platters shown on the menu were available. A misleading menu re BBQ platters and misleading website food imagery is a bad sign. I only ordered a BBQ platter - but who knows what other misleading information might exist on the other dishes. This restaurant is not recommended. Don’t waste your...
