Parkview Hotel — Restaurant in Orange

This well located hotel has a humble exterior, but the restaurant is really very good. I would even go so far as to say it's classy. It offers well prepared, interesting, meals for fair prices in comparison with other pubs/hotels in the wider district. The meals are concocted by people who have given the matter serious consideration, rather than resorting to the strange combinations some other places pass off as cuisine in an attempt to charge the public more for less. Staff are extremely professional and would fit in at any of the high quality restaurants that you can find in the big smoke. Meals arrive in a sensible time frame without being served out of a bain-marie. The outlook on the park is pleasant and the environment inside is inviting too. The building and facilities are well maintained and look like the owners and managers take their roles seriously and genuinely care about the quality of the customer experience here. If you are looking for a place to rush in, stuff your face with cheap food and rush out, this is probably not the place for you - but if you are looking to have a pleasant lunch or dinner with genuinely good food at fair prices, either on your own or with company, this place should be...

We had dinner here last week. I was promised "The best chicken schnitzel in town" if this is the best I would hate to see the worst. The actual restaurant is ok, however there was a big group of people near us and others who were standing at their table drinking and being very loud and blocking the walk ways. The staff did nothing about this. Service was good, the staff who took the orders were nice and the food came out fast, maybe a little too fast. The steaks my friends had seemed....Ok...Nothing great. My chicken schnitzel did not taste fresh at all, it was hard to cut and and hard to chew, which tells me that this chicken had been frozen. I think you guys can do better. Also, this place allows smoking inside the pokies room and the whole place did stink of smoke. I know this is a country town and people here might have lower standards when it comes to food etc. but you guys fell way short...

We stayed in December 2023 and were pleased to get a room away from the busy street and beer garden. Unfortunately we were woken up at around 11pm with two guys trying to break into our room via the roof of the building next door. We tried to contact reception via the phone number provided (no phones in the rooms, so on mobile) and were greeted with a recorded message stating to go online if we wanted to book a room. Phoned 000 after this as the guys were still on the roof trying other rooms, went downstairs to meet the police and the security literally told us we shouldn’t have contacted the police as it could affect their license. I appreciate that this is mostly out of their control but the fact they were unreachable during the incident, followed by being berated by security for contacting the police means we will never return.
