It has been a long time since I visited the highly regarded and respected Smokin Brothers. I remember lining up in the beginning in the very first store. And I had always been impressed. Unfortunately the experience had gone from a local institution to average franchise quality. At least in the standard of the burger patty. It was clearly not fresh, and I had to check twice to make sure it wasn’t actually processed. What was obvious was that it hadn’t just come off a grill plate. Or been made recently. It wasn’t hot, or fresh and neither were the chips that came with either of the meals. I won’t base my overall rating on this. And I understand there was a kids birthday party in at the same time. But several of the arcade machines failed to deliver on tokens due to not being properly maintained. It wasn’t that busy when we visited. And we weren’t allowed to visit the other section because ‘lunch had finished’. There was also no cohesion to the experience. I ordered at the counter. With the kids meal and tokens included. I was not given a table number, or a docket to claim my tokens. I was only told to collect them from ‘next door’, albeit with no docket. I was given a table number after asking ‘how will they know where to find us?’ Given the way the food is served, supplying napkins without having to hunt or ask for them would be a nice touch. I’ll give the place a second chance eventually. Maybe I’ll come a little earlier so I don’t get that feeling of being obliged to leave. I really wanted to maintain the five stars I gave five years ago. But the food, and the overall experience including atmosphere is nowhere close. Less, was much more.

Based on previous high reviews of this place, I had some good expectations walking into this place but upon arrival I was disappointed to see only 2 other customers when I walked in at 6:30pm, which should have been a sign for myself especially considering I did see other pubs and places with more customers nearby. The Interior looked very dated and unsure when was the last time they did a deep clean as there was plenty of dead bugs on the dusty windowsills. Was informed by the nice staff that it was better to order off the QR code on the table and got the bbq snack pack which has multiple items on it. It came out surprisingly quick (about 15 minutes). The Brisket was a bit tough but acceptable, the wings and pork were bland and felt like they were in the microwave. The chorizo and halloumi ‘poppers’ tasted like nothing, (chorizo tasted like the cheapest option at Cole’s) Slaw and Chips were good. Honestly had high hopes going into this place but was severely disappointed in the quality of the food. It might be worth it to only get a burger and chips from this place. I wouldn’t recommend going here.

We checked out this place late on a Friday night for amazingly good comfort food. We tried the snack pack and the brisket nachos, and the beef brisket and pulled pork were really tender and could taste the gorgeous Smokey flavour. We learned the owners are pretty strict with quality control on how the meats are cooked, and the end product was perfect. The beef brisket nachos were also very good and a generous serve. They started out as a catering/functions company (The Smoking Brothers), then transitioned into a retail space (Elwood's Eatery) though are actually the same owners and pretty much the same menu. We also received a bbq spice rub as a small gift when we mentioned it was day 2 of our honeymoon which was a really lovely gesture. Lovely and passionate staff - highly recommend checking out this place for something uniquely different and delicious in Orange.

Before visiting this restaurant please review the positive and negative reviews. The content of the reviews are 100% accurate to the point that I was in disbelief while waiting for my food at how accurate the reviews were when compiled together.

I have given Elwood's Eatery 2 stars overall. 1 star has been awarded to the woman at the bar and the woman taking orders at the register tonight (5 individual stars each for their service). Our second star is awarded to the taste of the food. The taste of the food was fantastic and exactly as I would expect and as most of the other reviews have mentioned.

2 stars have been taken away due to the sheer portion of time between ordering and having our order received. I ordered two burgers and a large portion of sweet potato fries at 7:14pm and did not receive my order until 8:30pm exactly. Upon receiving my order one burger was missing and we had an extra portion of potato fries which I promptly told them we did not order and to take them away. Our waitress acknowledged the information conveyed and returned to the kitchen. Less than a minute later a short, fat, plump woman with black hair, Caucasian build approx 35 years old, glasses and holding a receipt for our order appeared. (I describe this woman so when the review is read she knows I am talking about her). This woman did not introduce herself and said to my partner and I, "I wanted to let you know that you did not order the chips and that they are on the house." I assume the plump woman was attempting to provide a bribe in exchange for our discontent at the time taken to receive our order. I told this woman that I was in fact the person who advised that we did not want those fries and that we did not pay for them. The plump woman screwed her face up at me and said "Well I wasn't here when you said that now was I. Enjoy your food." And walked straight back into the kitchen.

Alas, we arrive at our final star deduction. The plump woman with the rude attitude is a prime example of someone you do not want working at your business and she was the final decider for this review.

If you want to taste some nice food then visit this restaurant. If you want to be greeted by extensive wait times and rudeness from who I assume to be a member of management, I would avoid this place at all costs.

I will never return for any reason and I will actively encourage everyone I know to...

Quick Reveiw: vistited Sat 16th : Wow , im not sure how to describe this Experience but Perfect! . This resturant is a must and was well worth the 2hour drive!.

Detailed Reveiw: As entering we were greeted by a warm welcome by all staff , the service was Impeccable we were checked upon multiple times from multiple staff which was great. We ordered 4 different mains with 3 starters and i must say the qaulity , the speed the Taste oh my gosh the taste! I didnt know how to put it in words everything was cooked to perfection the signature elwoods butter chicken just put it over the top for me . The whole experience was just AMAZING the girls serving had great service and lovely smiles . The Bar looked wicked , the music fitted the Cool Vibes going on. This is a must resturant and one of the best eaterys ive been too . Will definitely be back!

The Bad: There is nothing really to complain about except a few tips that could bring this place too a next level.

The grey walls were quite boring too look at with such a small skull on such a big wall thought some cool themed artwork could fill the walls abit more. A drinks menu at the tables would of helped abit. And cutlery was self serve which i dont have an issue at all with but this would of suited to be a waitered

The food didnt have much steaks bar 1 , nor any ribs for a eatery that seems to be specialising in American food thought this wpuld of been an option. resturant .

I dont like to say the bad especially on a resturant that was so superb and amazing but was just a few ideas. Will...
