What started as a great night soon turned into a nightmare. I visited with my extended family for Dinner. The atmosphere was fantastic, along with the wine and cocktails. After ordering at 6.45, the cocktails took some time to come out. When the wine turned up, we asked our waitress not to pour as we wanted to drink our cocktails first. Then she just poured a full glass of wine before reminding her of our request. Our starters came out fairly quickly but were missing the sough dough bread. We asked twice, but it didn't arrive. The person in the black shirt (assuming he is the manager) went to the kitchen and promptly brought the bread out and mentioned it was there waiting to be sent to the table. The starters were delicious, but the fishcake was dry. We waited around 1 hour and 15 minutes for the mains. The beef dishes were given to the wrong people and were just warm, the salad was wilted, and chips for the children were missing. It took some time to get our waitress's attention for more cocktails, so we did bother ordering. And also she was too busy to take a family picture (the first time this has happened ever) Given the time, half of the family had to rush and leave to get the kids home to bed. We did give feedback which was noted, and we were compensated for the salad, but essentially, the whole meal and experience were ruined. I definitely will not go back.

We had high expectations coming here due to all the great reviews. Unfortunately, it was probably one of the most disappointing dinner experiences we've had. Firstly, we ordered the Mediterranean mezze and it was awful. The couple pieces of eggplant were bitter, hard and chewy. It was not cooked properly. The vine leaves were too hard. There was also only one piece of bread, which for an exorbitant price of $32 is outrageous!! How can anyone justify a price of $32 for an entree with only one piece of bread with a few small dips and inedible eggplant! Also ordered the onion soup and did not enjoy the flavours. The side of beans were bland, just boiled with no flavour or sauce. The side of gratin was also flavourless. The mains too were disappointing. The orange roughly was overcooked and super salty. The accompanying potatoes were undercooked and bland. The barley risotto was a good portion, although the flavours were not there. So disappointed paying such a high price to get such poor value and quality.

After recently moving to Bathurst from Sydney we are constantly looking for place for a glass of good wine a some great food. A local suggested we try The Peacock Room in the Oriana Motor Inn, Oranges We went for a drive on Sunday to have a look and we’re pleasantly impressed. The decor and feel of the place was our vibe and the bar manager Troy was very welcoming and hospitable. He showed us around and gave us the rundown on the place. Unfortunately the Peacock Room isn’t open on a Sunday. So we grabbed a glass of local bubbles (Swift Cuvée) and headed out to the Cabanas to enjoy them in the afternoon sun, where Kendall looked after us extremely well. We enjoyed some bar snacks and a glass of La Mule French Rose. It was such a lovely afternoon, we can’t wait to go back and try the Peacock Room and perhaps even stay in the hotel. Thanks guys! we booked the Peacock Room at the oriana The service was not amazing had to wait, for cars to be park and then follow some one on foot to be show where to park. instead of just telling us turn wherever and room number to park @ ,  took forever. got in and had to wait for Waitress to take 2 other groups to garden restaurant before coming back to seat us at Peacock Room. there was staff there watch us wait for 15 min before being seated, one staff seen that we were annoyed and said we need to wait for appropriate trained staff to be seated. better organise. different staff for different restaurants would work better and (everyone to be trained to seat people would help) waited another 20min to ask to order didn't bother ask if we would like to order a drink the whole time we where there when I ordered drink she seem confused cause she wanted our food order food was so quick to come out we got food before a drink(beer) not a cocktail beer in a bottle. then we where still eat starter and they served main while we where try to eat our starters still no one wants to be rush and push out the door.thats what it felt like we went out for dinner for a reason. no would u like another drink nothing. we would of had 3 drinks each but serves wasnt there so we only had one. presentation of food was absolutely amazing but flavour and textures didn't follow it up vey small portionsfor price .The menu was let down. wasn't overly much to choose from We just didn't think it was great value for money and serving wasn't great Felt a little confused about where to go to pay going to the bar to settle the bill. definitely not a going to be back way over price for what it was and we waited longer then what we should have for parking and to be seated wasn't even busy and we all got seated together even know there was plenty of tables spare throughout...

The service was very competent and friendly, which was great, however we had some issues with 2 out of 3 of our steaks. The fillet mignon was ordered medium (so one would expect it pink) however it came out rare (not blue though) with the wrong sauce (ordered Béarnaise, received peppercorn). We showed the server who replaced it very quickly, so perhaps the kitchen cooks sous-vide or else had one ready to go? We also ordered two 250g Scotch Fillets, one of which was perfect but the other was riddled with clumps of fat that were picked out but really made a good 1/3+ of the steak inedible. We showed the waitress the remains of the steak but didn’t ask for anything instead, and didn’t receive any feedback on our comments. The steaks had been sliced in the kitchen so the chef would have unavoidably seen the fat before sending it out, so it really should have been stopped at the pass, however it was a busy Saturday night and I understand how pressured things can be to send a complete table together. Nb. The steak was marbled (good), and mine was perfect, but steaks vary, as all natural products do, so it may have just been that steak, or else the cooking never achieved required temp to render out the fat. My only critique on how this was handled is that we would have liked some acknowledgement of our dissatisfaction with the quality...
