Anything Grows — Restaurant in Orange

While the outdoor setting is truly beautiful, our experience here was disappointing to say the least. My wife and I both ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon on sourdough. We ordered at the same time, yet her dish arrived 20minutes after mine. Why? Who knows? The waiter and waitress both plonked the plates down and seemed irritated when we asked. The poached eggs came out hard-boiled in both instances, the toast was burnt and without either butter or olive oil, and the hollandaise sauce was stingily applied. It was a dry and tasteless meal, not helped at all by the rather sullen service. Also, my wife’s chai was very average, and no table water was provided. Very disappointed. Given we arrived at 2.30pm when the internet said it closed at 3pm, we assumed the kitchen would be closed but were told we could order sausage rolls from the cabinet. We were then told we couldn’t pay with cash as the manager was already counting it? After waiting for over 20mins at our table & conscious the venue was closing at 3pm, we went inside to find out where our food was. Apparently a staff member had cut their finger & the the 2 other staff were ‘in assisting’ him. My husband brought out our order & with the first bite, our sausage rolls were stone cold in the middle. Cute cafe. The outdoor seating was lovely and the plants added a nice touch. The little shop was an added novelty for any visitors of Orange.

However, the food was average both times I went there. They tend to have small portions, even with the food falling under the category of "something more". I was quite disappointed as I left both times feeling hungry still, which made me feel ripped off. The mushrooms with dukkah and eggs was average and the 'flatbread' was just a white wrap that became a bit soggy under the mushrooms so it was not the most pleasant to eat, which was a shame.
