oh my god 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼😍😍 can NOT describe just how much we love this place. In the past We’d always gone elsewhere for our fish and chips but then during our stay at the QMF last year, we were so impressed with what we’d ordered the first time we went there, that over the course of the 4 day weekend we went back 6 more times! Fair to say I was obsessed with the butterfish in particular. I cant explain how melt-in-your-mouth the fish was, and the size! The batter was always perfect, not too crispy or half arsed, and always a perfect light golden brown. My partner’s favourite choice quickly became the hamburger with the lot, and he’s pretty particular about how they’re made. The chips are always seasoned adequately. The price for everything is also reasonable given you’re right on the foreshore & everything is fresh laid out in the display cabinets. Depending on what you’ve ordered, certain items are front of mind and packed separately which is also a huge bonus! For example the fish will always come in a tray instead of being chucked in altogether with the chips, potato cakes etc, which means you don’t end up with soggy, half battered broken fish when you open up the paper. As is scallops 👌🏼 When it comes to the service, we haven’t been able to fault them yet! And we’ve been in Queenscliff during two of the busiest weekends of the working calendar for the town. The young tall bloke we assume is the main driver for the team, does well to keep everything running smoothly and his patience with both the customers & those whom are on the til for the night, it’s a credit to him. If you haven’t been here yet DO YOURSELVES A FAVOUR AND...

We chose the Original Fish and Chip shop in Queenscliffe thinking it would have a good reputation for its food and service, and we also wanted to support a local business. However, on a Saturday evening, our wait for just a side order of chips was lengthy. This provided us with time to observe a lot of unhygienic food practises. Some staff members wore hairnets whilst others with long hair did not. The cash register was used to take orders with people who were also handling raw food such as the fish. No food gloves were used. One staff member who appeared to be a manager/owner, was preparing raw and cooked food with multiple dirty bandaged fingers and again, no coverings for hygiene practice. Regarding the chips that we ordered, upon opening the pack a few minutes after leaving the store, they were already cold and incredibly soggy. They were also very yellow which suggests perhaps that the oil was not freshly changed on a regular basis. Overall, a disappointing experience and...

There was some pros and cons with this place. Pros: fish and chips tasted beautiful Cons: very expensive (my family's order at home would be $35 max.. our order at the Original Queenscliff fish n chips came to just under $50) also use way to much paper. My Dad's burger in batter was rapped up by its self. I would have wrapped it with the rest of the order or just put it in a paper bag. Way to much paper for one item. No wonder our order was expensive. They are paying for the paper they used on the order.

Over all next time if I am in Queenscliff if I was craving fish n chips i would still order from the original queenscliff fish n chips.... however if I was searching for just any take out for dinner I would go to the local Pizza place we went to the day after just a walk down from the fish n chip shop. Our order came to just $30 at the local pizza place, tasted great was filling and wasn't near pricey as the fish...

This place is incredibly busy, with locals frequently calling in orders and walking out with boxes of takeaways. When we visited on a weekend afternoon at 4 PM, there was a 10–15 minute wait. However, once we tasted the fish, we understood why it was worth the wait and why there was a long line at the door. We ordered the **Fish Pack for Two**, which included two butterfish fillets, chips, two dim sims, and potato cakes. Everything was fried to perfection—crispy without being greasy, and there was no hint of old oil. The batter on the butterfish was golden and crispy, while the fish inside remained tender and juicy. Easily one of the best fish I have ever had. The chips weren’t the super crispy kind but were still satisfying. The potato cake, with its crunchy exterior and soft, fluffy interior, was surprisingly delicious and a standout in its own right.

We had fish plate for 1 for $15 and chicken burger for $10. Good things: Side sauce was yum, probably homemade. Bad things: Even for dining in they packed the food in so many papers, instead of giving it in a plate or a box. Second, too much of salt on fish plate. Third, there was no cutlery, which is weird. All of us ate with hand. I would suggest on cutting down the busy age of too many papers and reduce the amount of salt. Price range is good, not too expensive like fancy restaurants with ambiance. That’s probably why the customer service isn’t that great.

We were in the area wanting f&c and saw the good reviews. It was a decent feed but have had better as well. The batter was crunchy but not light and crispy as we would like. Fish was fairly fresh but lacked flavour. Points for a good size of tartare sauce that was provided with our pack. Chips were OK, appreciated the decent portion size. Service was friendly and fast so top points for that. Tip: IGA next door for extra sauces & drinks (alco & non-alco)
