After brilliant camping at Eurimbula we decided to detour to the tavern for lunch. BIG mistake. Not worth the extra time or kilometres. Meals were quick easy or so we thought. After waiting 40 minutes an enquiry was made......oh sorry salad was frozen, we had to get some more???? Waited a further 10 minutes another enquiry....it's just being plated. Right;;;;;; At least 5 minutes later I went to "pick up" our plated meals...yep. Oh just being plated..yes, right we know that from nearly 10 minutes ago now. First meal finally meal finally comes out 'that's your steak sandwhich' well obviously, although it smells more like dog food. Next a crumbed fish ummm hello that's not ours. So that is just left on the counter to cold for whomever does own it. Watching our next meals being plated. THERE STANDS THE SERVER WITH HER HANDS IN THE CHIP BOWL PLONKING CHIPS ONTO OUR PLATES!!!!!!!!!! I politely ask if she could be given tongs but that fell on deaaf ears. Finally, our 'hand served' meals are coming out. Loaded fries with cheese, bacon & gravy..easy you say. Oh nooo no no. It is not just cheese as specified, it is parmesan. But who wants to wait another hour for their 'easy' meal, so they were only picked at to get to some underneath without parmesan. I managed to find a hot chip on my plate only because it was under my cold parmasana. Asked for 1 lot of fries without bacon..it got bacon so had to be redone. Given same fries with bacon picked off & few extra fries plonked on top then 'grated cold cheese' on top. Asked for salad &was given something which I think was supposed to resemble ceasar salad. Still not sure on that. Do have to mention that the steak ordered was cooked to perfection thank you. Extremely quiet place with maybe, maybe a dozen customers if you count slow & staff still cannot get meals out in adequate time, let alone edible. Many apologies were given by front staff member at least. Over all review. Would rather go to a fast food place & only pay 1/2 the price for food that tastes surprisingly better than we received at this so called tavern. The only reason I give 1 star is because our drinks were cold (nealry as cold as our food) & were...

First of all: Do not follow Google maps/GPS directions here, at least (or especially) if it's raining or overcast, as you'll be led on a wild goose chase, trying to find Tavern Road.
Our family (two adults and two kids) were very happy with the food served here for tea. I had a perfectly cooked well-done rib fillet with the best Diane sauce; another had the lamb, and our kids had the chicken schnitzel and chicken nuggets and chips.
Our youngest (10) even commented that the chips were "cooked perfectly crispy." 🙂
We had started with some delicious onion rings and also made the kids eat some vegetables (we ordered a side of the seasonal vegetables cause we're mean parents haha).
Everyone thought the food was delicious, so compliments to the chefs working tonight (January 10, 2023).
The only real let down (& I emphasise it's minor) is there were not many staff members around to clear away our dirty dishes or empty water bottles. I actually walked some over to the kitchen/bar area myself at one point.
That said, considering you had to stand in a queue to order your food, return to pick it up and carry it back to your table yourself (same with drinks, which you bought separately at the bar), it's not like we were expecting 5 star table service (fortunately).
The limited interactions with staff were friendly enough, everyone was polite.
So as long as you keep in mind this is a pub and not a fancy restaurant, you'll be just fine. 😊
The place seemed clean and tidy and had a lovely beer-garden-like area we chose to dine in.
Finally, I also liked the #AskforAngela signs I saw in the toilets. I had never heard of this before and personally thought it was a great idea. Good work AW Tavern.
I hate doing this because we love living here, but the lack of competition can be the only excuse, 4 meals for mothers day, not one got finished and most barely touched, kids steak was a gristle and fat cap that was truly inedible, the other 3 steaks all way overdone, dry chewy grain fed rubbish steak, then the salt and pepper calamari, we live on the coast, s&p calamari is flash cooked over high heat in wok or pan literally for seconds, I got deep fried frozen battered supermarket calamari, and a salad that had so much dressing it was soggy by the time it got to table, untested steaks on top of chips is also disgusting, if it wasn't mothers day it would be comical. We grew up on a cattle station, I worked in kitchens for 10 years and my son is a top chef and pitmaster, we know our food, unfortunately your chef and kitchen staff do not, oh and that so called garlic cream topper was like prawns in milk, we won't be back but has made me realise there's a market for a decent pub style feed, 1 out of 10 because bar staff were friendly and efficient but the cranky old white haired guy even ruined that with the way he short talks and tries to finish your sentence for you. Maybe a 2 because had coopers on tap. But definitely zero reason to return. Buy decent meat (grass fed) don't use frozen rubbish, serve chips on side, rest steaks. Just to start, oh...
