Ballistic Bargara — Restaurant in Queensland

Normally a loveable place, last night walked in for a drink, a lot of new staff friendly but extremely untrained. To watch the staff was stressful in itself, no flow, everyone was everywhere no idea what’s going on. Ran out of pineapple juice and soda water and most alcohol by 9pm. Seemed extremely unprepared for a busy booked night, it looked like no one was in charge and just kids running the place. It took an insanely long time to get a drink or even get served considering there was 3 staff on, everyone was waiting a good while too long. Couldn’t get a table except front bar stools on a tall bench which is fine but was not clean, most tables where full of glasses and dishes for over half an hour plus tables left and tables where still dirty a good while after. I understand a Saturday night in town gets busy but if you have untrained staff with no idea what’s going on or how to do their job, I wouldn’t leave them all to do a big night alone. I asked my husband (who posted previously before me) to leave 4 stars because I LOVED the craft beer and the atmosphere. However, I quickly changed my mind when leaving the establishment. I used the restroom just before leaving (5:15 pm) and it was so disgusting. The worst part is that the employee had JUST signed off at 5 pm that they checked the toilets and that they were clean. (They were not at all....) And there was NO soap at all, and the checklist says that they checked the soap level. There is no way humanly possible that the customers used all the soap in a matter of 15 minutes from when the employee checked the bathroom. Kinda gross to think that this is the same bathroom the employees might be using to wash their hands....with no soap. Maybe an adult employee or manager should be present at all times to make sure that the teenagers running the place are actually doing their jobs. After seeing 453 4.4 star reviews we booked a table and headed for the Brewpub. Wide range of beers on tap all brewed by Ballistic (it seems) but not on site as is advertised. Apparently the brewing equipment lies unused and redundant because the brewing has all been moved to Brisbane. This was very disappointing. The food was brought out too quickly after ordering and was average at best. No - on reflection the Salt and Pepper Squid was very fresh and well cooked but a very small serve. The Pizza on the other hand looked like a Pro Hart painting - thrown at the base from a distance. It was very difficult to tell which ingredient was which - and way too much BBQ sauce - drowned the flavours.
