My brother took me here for lunch, which was nice of him. Our first impression was how heavy the sliding entry door was. It took 15 men and a small goat to tow it open with a rope. Once inside, the waitress seated us at our table, which was in the middle of the room. This wouldn't be unusual except we were the only two customers in the restaurant, aside from some rando in shorts at the bar, who left soon after. The decor is nice. The waitress served our table water, took our orders, then went and made our drinks. The food seemed to take a while, which I thought was odd considering the number of people they had to serve (2, us). I guess the kitchen staff just had to catch up on whatever the kardashians were doing or whatever. No complaints about the food or drinks when they finally came. Top tier, served and presented well and tasted better than it looked. About the best a bundy bogan can ask for. The waitress serving us (the only waitress there) also made our cocktails. She took pride in crafting the unique house specials they offered, which, as somewhat of a mixologist myself, I could appreciate. Overall, I had a pleasant dining experience, and I would definitely come here again on someone else's money. Between entrees, mains, and drinks, we racked up $240, although we were given $4 back in change for some unknown reason. It was really mysterious. Another mystery was what was upstairs. They had chairs parked in front, so you couldn't easily get up there, but I think next time, I will try and sneak up there and uncover whatever secrets they are hiding.

Overall, this place is lovely. The ambiance is beautiful, clean, and perfectly lit for an intimate dinner. The cocktail menu is impressive, with plenty of options to suit different tastes, and the service was attentive and friendly. That said, I was disappointed with the food, especially given the restaurant’s pricing and reputation. For the prices displayed it wasn’t really reflected in the meal, I can see effort and creativity with the flavours, but $50 for 2 slices of carrot lamb and jus was a bit of a shock. The portion sizes were small, even by fine dining standards, and the value for money felt off—especially here in Bundaberg. The arancini balls were basic at best; I’ve definitely had better elsewhere. The bolognaise sauce was bland and lacked that “wow” The duck was a letdown—it just didn’t taste quite right, although the cauliflower purée it came with was delicious. On a more positive note, the lamb was a standout. The flavour was beautiful, with a strong rosemary note that I really enjoyed. Still, the portion was far too small for the price. I spent $100 on two mains and left feeling unsatisfied. For a night out with drinks and a nice atmosphere, this place ticks a lot of boxes. But I wouldn’t return for the food

Visiting my home town for the weekend and the parents had booked Sat dinner at Bert’s. I’d heard great things about the place and it was usually booked out, so was excited to try. Reservation had been made and confirmed for three pax, however upon arrival were taken to a table for two. Realising we couldn’t all done comfortably, we eventually had another table brought over. Realistically took far too long to work something quite simple out 😬. Had to ask for menus, was shocked to read five star dining to then find pictures of the food on the following pages. Has to ask for water and the staff didn’t seem confident or happy to be serving us - so initially not a 5 star experience. The main meals were a large size and really filling. The pork dish was tender and juicy. The cocktails were surprisingly good too, although the glasses were low tide a few too many times. Stunning venue, styled well and a really great use of space.

Bert’s has been where I go for my birthday since I turned 18 it’s got yummy food a beautiful bar with amazing service how ever this birthday my 21st was probably the worst service I received in my entire life. I’m seriously not exaggerating it got from bad to horrible. My sister and her friend arrived a couple of minutes before me my partner and the rest of my family. Once we all sat down the girls told us they hadn’t been given menus or asked if they wanted anything to drink, it was pretty busy so we’ll give grace on that once we arrived we had to call over the waiter to come take the birthday cake which had been sitting on the table for quite some time and to order some drinks. Wait for drinks wasn’t too long but the waitress as we all thanked her gracefully kinda just put the drinks down and walked away again she may have been really busy or just not having a good night I’ve worked in service so I get it again I tried to just let it go. Ps the drinks weren’t very great either. To Put the whole whole service and food situation in smaller store essentially my grandmother’s allergic to chill she was very vocal about it When it came out with the rest of the dumplings that have chilli on them, she asked for the one without chilli The waiter was confused and said that they all have chilli and she would have to order something else. So she ordered Fries this came out towards the end of the meal which was supposed to be her Entree. My partner and I mains Came out when everyone else was entrees came out. The pork was nice but Luke warm. The dumplings were bland and also lukewarm My sister and her friend’s pork was also lukewarm, and our charcuterie board didn’t really have a lot apart from two types of cheeses a sort of bacon ham thing olives and crackers. After all this my grandma decided she wasn’t happy with the service so she decided to say something after this we were completely avoided. Yes whilst my mother’s lamb shoulder and my sisters Gnocchi was nice and hot. When I tell you they were avoiding us, they were avoiding us. We had to Asked for our plates to be cleared, even though it was extremely clear that we wanted them to be cleared. So much so that we had packed everything up and pushed it to the end of the table and was still waiting about 20 minutes for everything to be cleared. So I asked the lady that had been serving our drinks if we could get the plates cleared and the birthday cake brought out. She took two plates left and then continued serving other people. It got to the point where I asked her again to come over and just said look. I’m just gonna grab the bill and my cake and go because it’s just taking way too long. She apologised and took my meal off the bill ( the wrong meal) as we’re sorting the bill and waiting for the cake 2 men at the bar were talking very loudly about some extremely disgusting and disturbing things about women. The lady whom had been serving us was laughing along with the 2 men as my grandmother was right behind them she got quite offended and asked the lady to do something and asked the men to at least lower their voice. Over all this was extremely upsetting and uncomfortable for everyone. I just want to also Point out the man that originally served us has no blame in this as we found out when my grandma complained that it was his third day on service and this was on a Saturday night. I don’t think any business should have a person that’s been working For three days by themselves on Saturday night service is just ridiculous. Especially as there was three bartenders behind the bar. Overall, it was just a upsetting experience We’ve had so many amazing dinners there but this was bad enough to make us never want...

Lighting was terrible - we had to use torch on the phone to read menu. Food was fairly good except chips which were nothing like description on menu. Menu for oysters needs to be re- written to ensure it is clear and not misleading about quantity. Food was not hot when served and 3 mains were not served with other meals and staff had to be repeatedly remind that we were still waiting for meals. Most people in party were finished main meal before 3 missing meals were served. Staff were pleasant and helpful but the whole service was of a fairly poor disjointed standard. The meal was a party to celebrate my friends birthday - which her partner had gone to a lot of trouble to organise

Thanks for your response Atmosphere is understandable and often enjoyable and low lighting can add to that. Lighting so poor where you can’t read the menu is not helpful for customers- the table i was at had poor lighting- other tables i have sat at when dinning at Berts previously were low lighting but not to the point the torch on your phone was needed to read the menu.

When we ordered our oysters we both asked for 6 oysters - the first order came out as 4 oysters- when questioned the waiter told us he wasn’t sure we wanted 6 so he decided 4 oysters for us - we didn’t change because it was already so confused - and easier to go with 4, and hope second order would come out soon. The menu does not state $7 each it has 6 written no dollar sign - i would ask you to read as even the waiter waa confused when he decided to change our order from 6 oysters to 4 without discussing with us before hand.

Berts fries on menu says thick cut chips - what we received looked and tasted like thin MacDonalds Fries - the accompanying truffle mayonnaise was excellent.

By the time the 2 missed pork belly and 1 serving of oysters arrived everyone else at the table had finished or nearly finished eating - that is not a short delay in service- we reminded the waiter a number of times that 3 meals had not yet been served.

We had one spokesperson for ordering and the order was checked with the waiter a number of times to try to ensure it was correct. I do appreciate that the order was complicated.

I have previously dinned at Berts on 2 other occasions, both times the restaurant was busy but the service and food were good - i had really been looking forward to Saturday night’s party for the very reason. If you advertise fine dinning then the service and food need to consistently meet the advertised...

Lovely atmosphere with a nice chatter and well suited music in the background. Warm and inviting with comfortable dining for our group of 6.

The food was very well presented, a little inconsistent in the amount of sauce on some of the same dishes, but still nice. We did request some options to find out they weren't available, which was disappointing. The price for what we got was the most disappointing factor. We both had the pork main dish, (as the duck was not available) which came with two different sauces, a small amount of bok choy and a small, and I mean small, amount of sprouts of some kind on top. Each plate being $40. We understood it is an upscale restaurant, but were still left a little discontented in what we paid for. As I said though, the taste and presentation was fantastic.

Service was good for the majority of the night. We did get water spilt on our table twice while water was poured, a fair amount that crept to the edge too. No apologies or any effort to clean it up, we had to use our napkin provided for the meal. When you pay for an upscale experience, you expect to get premium service. Even just a, sorry, let me get you a napkin for that would have been appreciated.

Drinks wise, the cocktails were nice, again, expensive at $20 per drink and a standard beer was $8, so a bit more reasonable. Tasted and presented well.

Overall, it was a pleasant evening, but I wouldn't go and rave about it, nor would we be jumping at opportunities to go again, unless it was a pre paid event. Atmosphere was the winner here and everything else was good, but nothing blew us away to what we had hoped. But good to see Bundaberg getting more options for fine and upscale dining opportunities. So well done for breaking into...
