1 star for the nice restaurant, great location and I enjoyed my soda water but that's where the praise ends.
VERY DISAPPOINTING! Myself and two colleagues ordered a meal each at Boatside. 1 x omlette and 2 x bacon and egg burgers. The omlette arrived 35 mins later by itself. They said the bacon and egg burgers were on their way. 45 minutes after ordering we received the bacon and egg burgers. Our colleague had finished his meal before we even got them. The burger looked like it had be slapped together with zero regard for presentation and the bacon and eggs were COLD. A girl on another table returned hers because of cold bacon also but we had a flight to catch and no time because we had already wasted so much time waiting.
Bit into the burger and got a mouthful of PLASTIC cheese YUCK. Pretty disgusting really when you pay $17 per burger for the worst service and cold food.
When the burgers were brought to the table there was no apology for the wait until we raised the issue. The waiter was polite enough and eventually apologised stating that he sympathises with us but that Sundays are their busiest day and thats why there was a long wait and that the difference in times for the meals being delivered was because we ordered separately so unfortunately this is just how it is. Yes we did pay for our meals separately but within 30 seconds of each other and it was all put on the same table number??? The person who served us asked if we were all together to which we replied yes. So there is actually no excuse for that just really poor time management.
As for being their busiest day, the restaurant was not even close to half full, i counted 23 patrons and half of those already had meals so this is mind blowing to me. I would hate to see how long it takes when it is actually full. We were not advised of any lengthy wait times when we ordered otherwise we would have got something at the airport instead of having to scoff down our cold burgers in 5 minutes.
If you are going to charge such high prices for food, make sure it's quality food, well presented, served hot and in a timely manner. We experienced none of those things except...
Read moreI work in a local professional financial services business that employees over 20 people. We have over 200 clients. We also have staff from our Melbourne office that come to Rocky frequently as well as professional people we do business with that we take out to lunch & dinner. We know what customer service is all about. We have a knock-off drink every Friday and occasionally we'll have a staff lunch for a birthday etc., not to mention our Xmas party. I drink Peroni Leggera, the "mid-strength" Peroni and have no more than 3 because I have to drive home. Tonight, an 84 year old male in our group shouted me my 3rd beer. I gave him the empty bottle of Leggera to show the bar staff which Peroni to provide. The 84 year old gentleman returned to our table with the full strength Peroni. If I drink this, I'm over 0.05!! This situation has happened before at other venues and the staff have kindly exchanged the heavy for a mid-strength without fuss. I went to the bar to ask if the heavy could be exchanged for a mid-strength explaining there was an error with the order and that if I drink the heavy, I can't drive home. The owner, Benito replied; "once a drink crosses the bar it can't be exchanged" to which I asked what is the margin on this drink? Benito informed me the margin was 70%. I replied; "so, for the sake of generating some goodwill, you're not prepared to write-off what, $6?". This was met with arrogance and with a great deal of reluctance. As the Leggera was opened Benito responded with; "UNBELIEVABLE!!" I've drunk in pubs/bars all over Australia and in other countries on this planet. Without doubt this is the most appalling display of hospitality and customer service I have experienced. At $8 a Peroni us "punters" are already paying above tote odds. After this disgraceful display there's very little chance of the Boathouse receiving any of our custom in the future. For the sake of $5.60, they've just lost potentially thousands. Not very clever...I wonder if this also falls within the realms of responsible service...
Read moreOMG – a very unpleasant experience with both food and service! We were there on Friday night. It was busy but not booked out. Firstly it took a while for someone to ask about drinks. Then it took more than an hour and a follow up for food to arrive. The waitress knocked over a glass with water in it on the table. The water went through and landed on our guest’s foot. No apologies! Just rushed to bring a few serviettes and drop at the table and gone. We ordered two Basil cream pesto pasta. One came half a size of the other, also without bacon and parmesan topping. We asked for it. The waitress went to the kitchen and came back with a small bawl of bacon and parmesan instead of taking the palate and fixing it. The burger we ordered was cold which meant is sat in the kitchen a long time sitting. When asked to talk to the manager, a young girl said she was the manager without introducing herself. No apologies offered and the interaction from her was very defensive if not aggressive. She claimed that they had a busy night and couldn’t handle it all. The lame explanation didn’t say why one of the dishes was half a size of the other and two ingredients were missing. I reminded her each customer has the same value regardless. Her answer was disappointing and the apology was hesitant and she said she would talk to the chef. Management – I would ask you – why would I want to return or recommend this place? Focus on what this place was like when it was originally opened – or perhaps nobody really...
