During June 2021, I accepted an invitation to attend an important lunch event at the Frenchville Sports Club in Rockhampton. I made the decision to travel from Brisbane to Rockhampton and return by Queensland Rail's excellent Tilt Train Service and enjoy a five night stay, to not only attend the featured lunch event, but also to see a few of the local Rockhampton sights and attractions on offer as well as utilising Young's Bus Service for visits to Mount Morgan and Rosslyn Bay (to get to Great Keppel Island).||||In researching on the Internet for somewhere to stay for my visit, I stumbled across the CBD Luxury Accommodation at 64 Bolsover Street, with good reviews. ||||As it transpired, I made an excellent choice in booking up a studio apartment at this establishment because the price was right, the location was excellent and the apartment itself was well appointed and perfect as a home away from home for a single traveller like me for 5 nights. Booking the place on Agoda was a simple process and offered last minute cancellation, if necessary. The reception staff attend to the reception desk for most of the daytime but do not operate for 24 hours; however there is an efficient after hours arrival process which I was able to navigate easily on my arrival. At the outside entrance is a set of steps and also a most thoughtful ramp for disabled access and to make it easier for guests wheeling their luggage. ||||My fifth floor studio apartment was compact and comfortable and had a balcony with views of mainly city houses. On one of the nights I witnessed a great sunset from my balcony. In the carpeted area of the apartment there is a king size bed next to a divan bed and small bedside cupboard with a lamp with a wardrobe to the side. There was adequate hanging space and shelving in the wardrobe and it provided a good supply of coat hangers as well as an ironing board and iron. |||| The bathroom had the basics of a vanity sink unit with plenty of bench space, mirror, toilet and shower facility and it met my needs throughout my stay. A slight criticism is the height of the water barrier on the floor at the end of the open shower recess. It needs to be a little higher as it did not stop water from flowing to other parts of the bathroom making the polished tiled floor slippery. Therefore guests need to observe caution when drying off after a shower. ||||The most impressive aspect of the apartment was the kitchenette with a microwave; two burner gas stove top, plenty of cupboard space, an adequate supply of cooking and eating utensils, table and two chairs and best of all a full size refrigerator/freezer. Too many accommodation places only offer a small bar fridge which never fully meets the traveller’s needs, so full marks to the management for going a step further. This kitchenette was fabulous for my stay as I chose to cook all my breakfasts and most of my dinners rather than eat out. As such, I did not avail myself of their ground floor Café Bliss, which I understand offers very good food judging by the reviews I have read.||||The cleaning staff emptied the rubbish bins and changed towels each day and did a full service on the third day. I was impressed with the overall cleanliness of the place. ||||The apartments are in a great location with the City Centre Plaza incorporating a Coles Supermarket only 450 metres (6 minutes walk) away. Then there is the Archer Street Railway Museum only 400 metres (5 minutes walk) away; the bus stop for Young’s Bus Service 800 metres (9 minutes walk) away; the Pilbeam Theatre literally just across the road and the Fitzroy River waterfront just a leisurely 4 minutes stroll away. On location alone this place gets my vote.||||I really enjoyed my five nights stay in the CBD Luxury Accommodation. I would highly recommend this establishment for travellers looking for a nice, conveniently located place to stay in...
Read moreStayed 3 nights and had high expectations as I’d read great reviews. Wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great for the $$. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Restaurant food is ridiculously overpriced & food was sub par. Coffee on the other hand was phenomenal. Room is adequately equipped but don’t expect a decent shower if you stay in a suite. Standing in the rain would have been more effective. Water from the shower covers half the bathroom floor which is slippery. Mould in the shower and in all the floor grouting is a bit icky.
Unbeknownst to us the cleaners let themselves into our room whilst we were gone so definitely don’t leave valuables. I’d left my whole handbag & while nothing was touched, I wouldn’t have left it had I known they would be coming into the room.
Secure parking was the primary reason we chose to stay here and whilst we got lucky getting a park (there are only about 6 secure spots), be aware you’re not guaranteed a spot and may still have to park on the street.
Super handy location with Coles & restaurant options walking distance. Central for accessing...
Read moreWe only stayed here for one night but really enjoyed our stay. Check in was quick and seamless, having completed an online check in prior to arriving. We were in a one bedroom studio on the first floor and were amazed at the size of the space for the price. Good value for a king size very comfortable bed, kitchenette with table and chairs, large bathroom with excellent shower and toiletries, and spotlessly clean and quiet. We were on the same level as the gym and pool but didn't use them for the short time we were here. Parking is available under the building and in a small area outside. Note that the parking can be a bit tight as the driveway is narrow and parking spaces small, so be aware if you have a large vehicle.||||The location was pretty good, being walking distance to a shopping centre, restaurants and the river. There is also an excellent cafe on the ground floor that does a great breakfast. You're a short drive from other amenities and attractions.||||Overall we loved our stay here and will happily...
