Hummingbird is where Rockhampton’s main characters gather. Walked in and everyone looked like they’d just left a Sex and the City reboot - linen, heels, and expensive perfume in the air. The place is effortlessly stylish, like it knows it’s the prettiest café in town. The owner - dark-haired, elegant, clearly running her dream - was floating around like a proud stage mum, and it shows. Staff were polite and switched-on; our waiter deserves a pay rise and maybe a podcast. The food? Mostly great. Caesar salad = tasty but a bit too lemon-happy. My iced matcha? Tragic. Read moreFour stars for the delicious toasted Italian sandwich that was more than enough for us both, and the yum Home made Anzac biscuit follow up. Nice little cafe and busy non stop. The end product coffee, extra water and all was good, but it lost this cafe...
Read moreHave to be truthful, this was not our first plan for lunch... We ended up here due to out first place closing early. Similarly, though, we had to rush some of this meal as they also closed earlier than expected. However, the food we did get was delicious & despite one ingredient being sold out, they still went above & beyond to make sure we had what we wanted as close as possible. The vibes here are probably as expected in a large, but kind of quiet city. It lacked a little something but was not unpleasant or bad, it just felt a little flat but perhaps this was simply our bad timing arriving close to when they closed their doors.
If you want some cheaper & still delicious food, with a welcome you will be warmed by then this...
