This place is probably amazing. Like most places that are awesome in Rockhampton, the popularity tends to be a double edged sword and I only really experienced the other side of the sword. The place was packed. Tables were full, loads of people waiting inside and outside. I left after waiting 25minutes for a coffee ordered via the app.

There is obviously an issue here with scale/speed. There were two on the coffee machine and they definitely need to deliver orders quicker - the person on the bar had a completely different approach method for each coffee and was having a great chat to her fellow staff members. With two on the machine you need a higher hit rate than 1 coffee every 2mins. It also didn’t help that when the coffee was delivered (orders ahead of mine), the clients waiting could not hear their names called and a staff member would have to try to match the coffee to the client amongst the throng, but this wouldn’t have helped their speed.

The lady who served me was dismissive of me on my arrival and looked more unimpressed when I canceled the order. To be fair, the coffee was probably only now in production. But I had a hard deadline and had already waited 15mins longer than I care to for my morning fix.

To summarise, this could be the best coffee joint in Rocky, I wouldn’t know, as I was unsuccessful in my attempt to order a coffee, due to issues with the place handling the volume on that Friday morning and a hard deadline I could not move.

I wouldn’t let my experience stop anyone from visiting this place. #firstworldproblems

I thought I’d just throw in two things in response to a response from the owner…

  1. depending on how many group heads you have on your machine, you should be able to rack up 2-4 shots and deliver coffee easily 4 x’s every 2 mins. With one milk froth serving 4… I can do this with one other person on milk. Training / equipment / staff - whatever you have a scale issue.
  2. thanks for the offer of free coffees! I would have loved a refund on the original 2 though.
  3. your app told me the order was ready 15mins...

Unfortunatley, this was not as good as expected or hoped. We came here due to the Happy Cow app reviews.

However, the Gluten Free bread has egg in it, so they can't do vegan and gluten free bread of any kind. (They do acknowledge this on their vegan menu.) They agreed to add avocado to replace the bread. Then they came back to tell us they also didn't have any GF Vg hashbrowns, so they agreed to add extra chips to replace the hashbrowns.

Then we waited...and waited. When it finally came, the meal was small. They forgot the mushrooms (standard with the meal), and they forgot the avocado, which was to replace the bread, and they didn't give us the extra chips that were to replace the hashbrowns. They did get us the avocado when we asked, and they put a rush on the mushrooms, but I'd nearly finished eating when they came.

Overall, this meal was expensive, as it was small and lacklustre, and we left hungry.

The place was initially busy, and people generally seemed very happy with their meals. So I think they just dropped the ball on the...

Service was very quick but the food itself anything special. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the Turkish eggs. Hollandaise sauce came out a bit sour (almost like too much vinegar) but they are very generous with the amount of sauce they gave. The poached eggs were a little too overdone so the yolk wasn’t as creamy. Love the chewy texture of the pita bread from the Turkish eggs and the combination was pretty good. We also tried the iced white chocolate mocha, milo mocha and matcha latte. Highly recommend their coffee and you can still taste the coffee through the flavour, very subtle but it gives a perfect mix. The white chocolate mocha and matcha latte might be a little too...

A cozy cafe in Rockhampton with a dedicated vegan menu (just ask at the counter) and all-day breakfast. Our coffees both hot and cold were deliciously smooth and made well on alternative milks. The vegan breakfasts were so good with great value for money portion sizes! However my partner was disappointed with his vegetarian corn fritters, of which were dry, served with overcooked halloumi and a relish that was so over spiced it was inedible! Need more care and consistency with their meals.
