Where do I start? At first, I was sceptical as I saw no connection between Korean and Mexican cuisine. Then I ordered a Korean Buritto, against all my beliefs. I fell in love with the taste! All the ingredients were so fresh! The lettuce was crunchy, the Korean flavoured beef was delicious... It was beautiful Buritto! Wife ordered a Mexican salad which she loved. Said it was fresh, light and "summer-y". Kid wanted to eat tacos and while they don't have tacos as a standard kids menu item, the lady (owner, probably Korean herself) said she'd make a kids version of it without the jalapenos and the spicy Mayo. Fantastic service. We'll be going there again to try some Mexican-Korean fusion dishes. I highly recommend this place!

Update: Two days later, as promised, we went to this place again. On a 7 day holiday, we chose to have two dinners here; that is how good this place is! Wife was in love with her salad from last time, so she ordered that again. I ordered a pulled pork Mexican Buritto. Again, such beautiful flavours and fresh to the core. I must also talk about the "structural integrity" of my Buritto. Even after a few bits, it did not break and the fillings did not fall out - in my opinion, it's what differentiates a good sandwich from a great sandwich. Kid loved her "kids beef quesadillas" and devoured them. If you're reading this review, do yourself a favour and visit this underrated gem. And no, I'm not related to the owners or affiliated to this place in any way. I'm just a dude...

Popped in for dinner after a day up at Port Douglas as the outside definitely caught our eye & we found it actually was close to out hotel. Great food, good portions & not expensive. Partner got the jalepeno poppers & burrito. He said that mexican/korean fusion is officially his favourite fusion 😂 I had the katsu chicken. Just a menu suggestion - I would’ve loved to of had rice as an option for this meal with guac/salsa or something rather than chips, as the chicken & katsu sauce seemed like they would’ve paired so well with those! I was still happy with what I got regardless though 😊 This place seems like a great idea when you want a night off cooking or even just visiting the city, but not wanting just KFC or Macca’s but also not being able to/wanting to drop big $ on a meal. If we lived in Cairns, I’d say this would definitely be a regular spot. I think that just means they need to expand to...

Ordered Beef Tacos from here from Uber Eats, food arrived a mess, but that was ok I can deal with it, took one bite and the food is freezing cold, like stone cold, all 3 tacos freezing with cold beef, I rung them as I was hoping they would send a fresh batch out, considering I sent $30 on 3 tacos to not be able to eat them? Instead of helping in anyway, the owner laughed at me and said “it’s cold because we put salad on it”??? sorry, I’ve ordered food many times in my life, including tacos which have salad and the meat should not be STONE COLD. Then he said that the food is not stone cold as he ‘warmed it up’, so called me a liar and continued to laugh at me more saying if I wanted a refund to contact Uber Eats direct.

Absolutely appalling customer service & I’ve now wasted $30 on food that I can’t eat so will not be eating tonight now, do not recommend this...

I've been interested in this place for a while. There's very little around it so it has to be a destination by itself. Mexican & Korean fusion -- that's unusual. The service was great -- there was a bottle of cold water straight from the fridge the moment we sat down. The menu perhaps isn't extensive but should have enough to satisfy most people. I took the safe route ordering the crispy chicken burger. If you've read my reviews you'll know I like hot & crispy chips. These didn't disappoint, they were the best chips I've had for a long time. The burger was good. The panko crumbed chicken was definitely crispy and the charcoal bun was different / enjoyable. My friends had a burrito and quesadillas and both were happy with their meal. The interior of the restaurant was Mexican themed and provided a nice atmosphere.

Calaveras Street blends the bold flavours of Korean and Mexican cuisines seamlessly, offering a dining experience that's both exciting and satisfying. Their tacos and burritos are a standout, packed with juicy meat and complemented perfectly by fresh, tangy salsa. The quesadillas are a must-try, gooey cheese in every bite. The restaurant's vibrant decor and upbeat atmosphere create a fun, energetic vibe that enhances the brunch & dining experience. Service is attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall enjoyment. Whether you're a fan of Korean food, Mexican cuisine, or simply love inventive fusion dishes, Calaveras Street Cairns delivers with every dish. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore new flavours! P.s. Jalapeno Poppers and 1kg of Mexican & Korean Wings 👍
