Capitol Regent — Restaurant in Queensland

Could not fault the food, it was delicious. However, our asian male waiter/maître d could not have been more rude and unpleasant! We were asked if we wanted a drink as soon as we sat down which I liked. My husband knew what he wanted but I didn't. "Well what category of drink do you want?" I was rudely asked by the man. I said I didn't know as I didn't know what beer or wines were available so I asked for a drinks list. The list was dropped on to the table and he stormed off and threw his order pad on a bench on the way to the kitchen. He returned a couple of minutes later and and snapped "What drink do you want?" I told him I didn't like his attitude and that he should ask me what would I "like" to drink, not "What do you want? " He just stood there with a stunned look on his face. When he came back for our food order he started asking us what we wanted to order from 10 feet away as he walked towards our table. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! From then on he didn't say a word to us when he brought anything we'd ordered but just dumped it on our table. All the other workers in the restaurant were absolutely lovely, especially Bridget, who simply walked past doing something else but still smiled and spoke kindly to us. The other 2 young waiters (a male and female) were very polite and kind. Very disappointed with this man's poor level of customer service. He completely let his entire team and the very good reputation of this restaurant down! Won't...

Very disappointing tonight. We are regulars but very long wait for our food. We had 6 dishes ordered and the first dish came out but nothing else for 5 minutes until I walked over to staff to ask them to check for our remaining food and also requested bowls to eat out of as they also had been forgotten. Lots of new staff on the floor with little training and no sense of attention to customer service. Spoke to Manager who was not in the restaurant during the night and he said they were busy with take away. Once our food came no staff came to check on us. We would have definitely ordered more drinks and possibly dessert. Lost opportunities. It was also obvious that other customers were not happy and experiencing similar problems. We were also their the week before on the Saturday night and food was also very slow in coming out. Someone in our group said they walked out last time they were there as their food was too slow. On a positive note food is very good and the best in town. Unfortunately must be experienced a problem with good well trained staff at the moment. We will be back but maybe might wait until they have time to improve staff...

Go elsewhere!

This used to be our go-to for Chinese but had a few poor service situations so stopped. Decided to give them another go, and ordered three items tonight (chicken and sweetcorn soup, chicken and almonds, and a large special fried rice) which according to the menu on the website should be $41.50. On pickup was charged $52 and rang back to query - apparently they gave us a large soup which was $19 rather than the $9.50 menu item.

Food:

The basis of fried rice is that the food is fried - this was white rice with processed ham, raw onion and a couple of uncooked prawns tossed through it. Inedible.

Chicken and almonds traditionally has a light oyster sauce but this was swimming in barbeque sauce. Edible but pretty weird.

Soup was boiled for so long that the corn was long broken up and invisible, also the soup was thin and almost tasteless.

Fairly sure that this "Chinese" food had never been near a Chinese cook, or for that matter ANY cook.
