One of the worst meals my wife and I have ever eaten (and we've dined in many parts of the world!) My wife and I have owned and run 4 restaurants between us, so we have some idea about food and how to prepare it and when I say eaten, we actually left a lot of it uneaten. I had the octopus which was one small tentacle, some rice and 70% salt. I'm still trying to get the taste of salt out of my mouth! My wife had the fish of the day (small portion of barramundi) with some rice and 70% salt! The only good thing was the corn on the cob that our son had and even that was still 50% salt! Perhaps it's a Peruvian cooking style? Cook for one hour, throw the food away and just serve the salt. Seriously, top ten restaurant in Noosa, compared to who? Maccas, KFC? Wow, so disappointing. Waited ages (Easter, so we understand but c'mon, not even a corn chip to help pass the time) and to then be served some very ordinary seafood in a bowl with no flavour other than salt, salt and then more salt, has literally left a bad taste in our mouths! An expensive and utterly forgettable experience.
Reply to the owners reply: Thanks for the prompt response to my review. Allow me (the customer) to clarify a few points you stated. Yes, we arrived on time at 8pm and were seated. We understood that you were busy so we patiently waited to be served, eventually a waitress came and told us it was her first night and couldn't take any orders and would find someone else, that someone else did take some time to come. Anyway, again I understand as you were very busy. The drinks were not at our table in 2 minutes as you claim and the first meal arrived after 8:50pm (I looked at my watch) during that time it would have been nice to have something to help pass the time, some bread, pita and olive oil, a corn chip, a peanut, anything really! We have owned and operated 4 restaurants and purely out of respect and to be polite, my wife advised me not to say anything about the meal directly to the kitchen (I wanted to!) as it was already late, our youngest son was with us and being Indonesian, it is not culturally acceptable for her to complain. I can also guarantee you that being Muslim, she is also not the "chicken parmigiana type" of diner and she knows her way around a kitchen and has cooked the odd rice dish on occasion! Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hahaha! Nobody came to our table to ask how our meal was, we didn't even have a knife to cut it! Anyway for the price, the meals at Coya were very ordinary and tasted of little other than salt (the octopus was well cooked, tricky business I know) Your staff can attest to the fact we left much of our meal on the table. I'm truly sorry that you don't like any criticism but you should take it as constructive and use customers views and opinions to improve your business, cater to all tastes and understand that people can and should express their views on something that they're paying money and time...
Read moreWorst service i think ive ever experienced and ive eaten in allot places across the globe so thats saying something. Rude, attitude, unhelpful the list would go on. Its a shame because the chef was decent, the cocktails too and a good range of alcohol. But the attitude was that poor I couldn’t bring myself to part with desert money, so between 9 of us, if you add extra drinks an a would be tip, thier poor attitude cost them north of $400 .. great shame for all involved… to add insult to injury the owner has replied to my review and lied and since i dont know how to answer back im doing so by editing the review: 1) we were 20 mins late not 40.. 2) we were not asking for additional time we only wanted the time that was in the booking which was clearly stated 5-8 due to the size of the group NOT 5-7:30 as you falsy claim. 3) we were rushed out at 7pm 4) i apologised to your staff on arrival for being late and confirmed that we wished to order 3 courses and that we would like stay to 8 as per the booking arrangements, to which your usher huffed but agreed, this rude attitude was a constant from the moment i arrived, for example upon arrival i asked where the bathroom was, the answer given “we dont have one you have to go outside” instead of the usual “of course heres a key for the ones down there etc” ..Then at 7 they tried to move us on, by which time i wasnt keen on ordering desert anyway because the experience to that point had been shocking. Re the food, entres were mostly nice, mains dissapointing, which is why i gave a generous “decent”, but mcdonalds burgers are decent too. That said a number of us who ate the ceviche were unwell through the night… based on your deflective false reply i understand where your staff gather thier poor quality from…. Ive never written a bad review in my life, but this...
Read moreWe came to a beautifully decorated Coya at 6:30 7th Feb for a walk in table the place was not full but the main waitress was not friendly at all, no smile, impatient, no welcome and just rushing us the whole time to order and make fast decisions, which made it unpleasant for my birthday. The other girl was really so much nicer and friendly though but unfortunately she didnt serve us much. The food flavours were good beef tacos were great, Tupac Lamb cutlets were tasty, fatty and delicious, lobster taco was fresh. Although the food was good the dishes came out super spaced apart and then all at once and with the portions on the smaller side we werent sure why it was taking so long, maybe the kitchen made a mistake who knows. We also ordered the tres leches cake with the table set and 15 minutes later they told us there was none left so a bit dissapointing. Overall i'd say give it a try for something different and unique flavours with a pretty venue but i hope the service improves in...
