Poor service, inattentive staff, some staff looking bored and standing around. Booked and on arrival and not shown to the table. We were told where to sit, couldn't find table had to go back out and ask. After they dropped menus and water they never came back. Had to wave down a staff member to take our order. They had plenty of staff, so this was definitely not a staff shortage excuse. I used to manage a large restaurant with less staff, but if staff are efficient it's not an issue. Management need to properly train their staff in hospitality skills. The kitchen could not keep up with the conveyor and there weren't many sushi plates to choose from and it was peak dining time. Some plates looked like they'd been doing the rounds for a while. So that was hugely disappointing. A hair found in my sauce plate with the dumplings, dried food bits on two glasses of soft drink we were served. Didn't bother complaining as the staff probably would not have cared much.
Place looks tired and not as good as it used to be. We also visited over Xmas holidays and it wasn't that great then. My son only remembers how dirty and sticky the floors were. Read moreReally disappointed with my recent visit, the new owner had apparently voiced that there was a 1 hour time limit on the table which I had not realised at the time but just as I was finishing my sake she abruptly bought my last dish over in a takeaway container and told me she needed the table for another booking. No offer to change tables, just asked me politely to pay the bill. Our family has supported this business immensely over the years, eaten here well over 100 times. Never again. I am sure this review will be met with the same nonchalant attitude I received upon subtly voicing my complaint. Pretty shameful service when you’re spending well over 100 a head.
Edit in response to owner - I am a local, to insinuate that I have some kind of two sided intention is appalling, not surprised to be honest. This review is very accurate and to make out like your food is anything other than average is a misrepresentation. I think 3 stars is neither generous or harsh, it's spot on and it's fair. I ordered the salmon teriyaki meal for dinner which was $27. I thought it would be a normal sized piece of salmon for this price but instead I was given a 0.5cm flattened very small piece of salmon. Also no visible teriyaki sauce. Nice little salad. I felt disappointed that they thought this acceptable for this price. I mentioned it straight away to the blonde lady serving me but she didn’t care. I got one sushi plate which tasted a bit old and a green tea which was nice.
After dining they have a sign that you have to carry your sushi plate across the restaurant to the billing table. I just told them what colour plate I got and the man looked across the room to check.
This is poor service expecting customers to carry sushi plates across a restaurant. Never have I ever seen this before. The same blonde lady came across and put the sushi plate on the billing table with an attitude. I said I had already let the man know the colour plate.
