Horseshoe Bay Fish and Chips — Restaurant in Queensland

Thought we would come to Horseshoe bay to try out some fish and chips as we had been going to the one near the Marina and wanted to branch out. On arrival the place seemed ok, just like any other fish and chip shop. We were greeted by a young male staff member, with absolutely 0 customer service. He was quite rude and impatient (we didn’t take long to order at all!). As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for 10+ years, both as a staff member and team leader, this fella really needs to be shown how to interact with customers. I can completely understand that when reviews like this are made, it may be the customers fault, but as someone who knows how the industry can be I walk in everywhere and am very polite and keep things easy and simple. If you can’t be polite and professional, then you’re in the wrong industry.

I give the food 3 stars as the scallops and seafood sticks were delicious but chips were quite soggy.

Absolutely beautiful fish and potato scallops. Sometimes potato scallops can be a bit small.

Sea Scallops. Twice I've been given a $4 Scallop, and it was only batter containing a piece of dried crisp shrivelled up scallop. I took the 2nd one back and got a fresh one. Again, absolutely beautiful they just need to check the products they are wrapping up.

The last time I ordered I asked the angry counter boy to ensure they checked the quality of the product to make sure it weren’t shrivelled and dried. He said he serves them as they are and whatever you get that’s it.

I said not good enough so then he just got agitated and very abrupt.

First impression top. We were happy about our delicious fish & chips with Mayo (extra cost) and we went to our hostel. Disappointed, we found with the first bit that the mayo was confused with aioli. Because we don't like aioli we walked all the way back. The food was getting cold. We asked nicely for mayo and quickly the sauces were swapped without apology. When I asked if we could get a small mayo as compensation, the seller just laughed and said no. Very bad service. This was really pity!
