Coffee beautiful but that's all that can be said about the place. One tatooed male who was dealing with the food was observed by myself and my companion to consistently picked prepared salad type food up with his bare hands and then place it on wraps. He was eating hot chips and putting his fingers to his mouth. He was touching surfaces and equipment all without gloves. I discussed my concerns with a young Asian waitress who apologised for the male and went to speak to him. He dismissed her expression of concern with a statement that he was 'using tongs'. Well not all of the time was he using tongs to handle food. The person I was having coffee with also witnessed his lack of hygienic handling of food as we could observe him through the glass cabinets. The young waitress identified the staff member who was the 'supervisor' for that shift, but as she had not observed the male cook or appeared to be particularly interested in her surroundings therefore she was not approached to discuss these concerns. Are these acceptable hygiene standards for Jamaica Blue? Is there somewhere at the cafe where staff can wash their hands? I won't be back, nor will my companion who was with me, or friends who I have told about...
Read moreSunday just gone tried to get brunch. will Never go back as my friend After asking politely 2 times to have a table cleared and then me catching the young guys 3 of them joking about âanother customer complaint about tables not being clearedâ we waited another 5 mins and then I took a plate up and asked if they could please finish clearing. The barista turned on me and said I was rude as they were âbusyâ preparing stuff couldnât I see that. Obviously i saw in his tone that he was up For a confrontation. Clearly they were not busy at that time as half of the tables were uncleared and they were having a drink and joking amongst themselves. I did point this out however customer service was in the toilet and the abuse was obviously free - we left even though we - my 4 friends and myself had a voucher for use. We Will NEVER be back despite this having been one of my favourite coffee spots in the shopping fair for the past 25 years. Sad to see it go down hill. Went to the Coffee Club with excellent service with a smile couldnât be happier cleared a table For us straight away 2 of them. Donât bother saying sorry as I have read the reviews going back 5 months and clearly nothing has changed. Canât even give a 1 star. Coffee...
Read moreMy sisters and I chose Jamaica Blue to have breakfast. Apart from the fact that it was very over-priced, the breakfasts were not what we expected...in a bad way. Firstly, for $4 I received a small very thin piece of raisin toast, it was ridiculous. Next my sisterâs âBig Breakfastâ for $18 arrived. We noticed that there was no bacon included. When we asked why there was no bacon. The reply was âThatâs an extraâ...for $5! What the! Then my sisterâs chocolate milkshake for $6 arrived. It was equivalent to one cup, 250ml in size. My sister then received her eggs on one small piece of toast and the eggs were not flipped as she had requested. So she had to take it back herself to have the eggs flipped. I have frequented Jamaica Blue on a semi-regular basis because I enjoy their soy chai lattes. Unfortunately after this disappointing experience I will not...
