Kirwan Sports Club — Restaurant in Queensland

I'm a regular here and Brothers and it's generally great. I'm on a budget so it's a treat for me to have dinner here once a week. Tonight was really busy with bingo or similar, I lashed out a bit on ribs instead of the special as they are great. On ordering I was warned dinner service would be slow, no probs, got an extra drink to pass the time. Meal was about an hour but was delicious, problem was just into the ribs and I need to pee, left my cutlery tops on edge of the plate to show I wasn't done, a full glass of wine and my raffle tickets next to plate but you guessed it, I get back and no meal. Called the waitress over and it was there's kids fault! She called him over and explained cutlery eticate but basically the staff all thought it was funny. I wasn't making a big deal out of it but $29 for half a meal? A bit of empathy for a hungry old man would...

The new refurbishment looks absolutely amazing. Very comfortable seating and dining area. Bar staff always polite and efficient, but that's where the compliments end. We went to Kirwan Sports Club last Saturday 21st November for dinner with 10 other guests to celebrate my birthday, really looking forward to a nice meal. At least 5 people in our group found the food less than pleasing. Tough steak, rissoles tasted like cardboard, beef stroganoff looked like mushroom soup, potato mash looked and tasted like "DEB" powdered potato. Maybe this was just a bad night in the kitchen because we've had beautiful meals there before. The place is nice and lawn bowls was fun. But the service wasn't great, there was an order lady at the bar who was super rude when I asked for glasses to go with our jug of water. On top of the service being pretty poor we also ordered 3 platters, when they told me it was $75 each I was expecting them to be large, I was extremely disappointed. The cheese platter only had a small bowl of clubbed cheese, 2 dips and a small bowl of kabarna with a handful of biscuits, I could of brought a bigger and nicer platter from woolies for half the price, the other 2 platters were just as underwhelming, there was more on those platters but deffinatly NOT worth $75 each.
