Was inspired by recent reviews by other Chinese folks who really like their food. Wanted to have hot soup on a cool evening. So we rang ahead of order and chatted with the Co-owner who is Malaysian. The person cooking is from Taiwan. Asked if there was any uniquely Malaysian dish, she found it hard to answer. Ordered 3 dishes: Fried kueh teow, seafood laksa and wonton noodle soup. Here are my thoughts about it. There are some hits and misses for each dish.
Wonton noodle soup Hit: Handmade wonton and the filling was homestyle. Well seasoned mince pork with water chestnut and the wonton held together upon consumption. Definitely the taste of home. The bee hoon ( rice noodle) were given enough time to soak in cold water before the final stage of cooking and held its integrity with good firmness and texture upon consumption. The ingredients were of a generous portion. Miss: The soup was pretty bland. Lacking a the depth of flavour. It's much like a simple soup cooked quickly at home by adding lots of vegetables.
Seafood laksa Hit: Ingredients portions were generous with an even number of small and large prawns with fish cake and vegetables. Really like the texture and taste of the yellow noodles. Smooth and did not have an alkaline taste. Miss: Soup didn't taste anything like laksa. Think a spoonful of red curry paste in chicken stock soup. Do improve on the soup base to a stronger broth like that of Singapore or Malacca would be great.
Char kueh Teow Hit: Wok Hei (wok fire) was great!! Definitely cooked at the right temperature to give maximum flavour. Love the large potion and its not too oily. Miss: Way too much use of soya sauce and it was too salty for my liking. If the saltiness was reduced by half, it would definitely be a banger of a dish.
If you miss home style cooking, definitely recommend to order their food curb that home sick feeling. Might try their Japanese food next visit.

Read moreVery disappointing service. The owner or the staff member who takes your order on the phone. Has no problem abusing you and hanging up on you. Not sure if they understand customer service. I have ordered the king prawn fried rice many times. So yummy. One time I said the prawns looked a bit unhappy, not so fresh. Now she will not pick up my calls, when I want to order. The owner knows my number and last night I called for over two hours every fifteen minutes. Tonight 8/03/2024 I called from a different number. As I placed my order, I was told off yet again. "YOU COMPLAIN TOO MUCH" My order was received however she yelled Don't be late. She then hung up on me. I am too scared to pick up my order. Will she spit in my meal? No thank you. I will never order...
Read moreThis business appears fairly new, with what appears to be a husband and wife team operating it. First thing I noted upon opening the door is how clean the food preparation area is. A good variety on the menu (approximately 60 dishes) encompassing several Asian cuisines (Malaysian, Thai, Chinese etc). Most Asian places in Toowoomba serve paste out of a tin, not so here (the pastes appear and taste genuine). The laksa especially is superb.
Prices are very reasonable and service speedy - I don't even bother ordering in advance because it's just easier to order in person and wait 5-7 minutes. The noodle dishes are the stars at this place, do yourself a favour and order them. One of my recent...
