The food at any Masala restaurant that I have visited in Townsville is absolutely delicious, I highly recommend ordering the butter chicken as it is one of the most amazing experiences that you can give your tastebuds

Regardless of the level of flavour provided by the restaurants staff I still left 1 star because of the level of hygiene and customer service.

For the Aitkenvale Masala location: the cutlery is atrocious, we often found traces of old food on the knives and forks and particularly in the water jug & and cups when we dined in - I always loved the food though so I'd only choose take away. But even the takeaway experience was unpleasant.

Take-Away seemed to be the only option as the woman at the restaurant seemed very hostile and not friendly at all with no customer service skills which made dining in seem like eating in a restaurant with the devil, It felt as if she were watching your every move and it seemed that everything that you were doing was being judged.

Every-time that I wanted to order food; I had to interact with her so I had to try to keep the interaction as short as possible because interacting with her is by far one of the most unpleasant experiences that I have ever had with staff at a restaurant - She seems very judgemental and apathetic towards customers.

She once even rudely took my card and used Pay-pass when I did not even want to use it, In Fact she did not even ask if i wanted to use it.

The level of spiciness that you order is never guaranteed, sometimes you'll order mild and it will be hot or medium, sometimes you'll order medium and it will be so hot that it will be inedible.

My overall summary is that if you want delicious tasting food and don't mind interacting with the devil come here, If not then I would recommend still driving half way across town to get way better customer service and clean cutlery -

I highly recommend the Palmer Street, Deeragun, and the Thuringowa Location. (Although the Thuringowa location have left me a couple naan bread short than I paid...

I ordered food from here via uber. And the rice I received had bugs ALL through it. Not just one or two. I dug out 8 of the little guys before I gave up and decided it was unsafe to eat. Absolutely Nasty.

Edit (response to the restaurant): After researching the problem I now understand that these are rice weevils. While these little guys are harmless it is an indication of poor storage practices.

Most importantly, these bugs take multiple days to grow into the adult stage seen in my food. Hence, this absolutely isn’t a new employee problem. It’s a fundamental problem with the way you store and look after your food.

I have no interest in ordering from your restaurant again because I’m not confident that you could have corrected such a fundamental issue in such a short time.

It’s possible that your store might have to get rid of your inventory and start over if it’s all infested.

Maybe I’ll try again in the future; but I don’t want to be eating poorly stored rice. While also worried about what else is stored/managed poorly.
