This is a very lovely park along the river which is great for families or friends wanting an outdoor picnic. There are only limited covered areas for sitting, so if it is rainy your options are limited, however there are plenty of tables available spread out under the shade of the trees for your sunny days. Plenty of open grassy areas for people to kick a ball or spread out with a picnic rug. There are ducks, pelicans, turtles, kookaburras and ibis for those that enjoy watching wildlife.

Numerous BBQs are available and there is a gated playground next to the carpark. Rubbish bins are available throughout and there are taps available for washing off dirty plates. A second set of swings for older kids is near the public toilets as well, with a sand pit available. Further down the park is a rather large dog park that has a few benches for sitting and some basic agility equipment. Dog waste bags are provided at the entrance and the dog park is double gated.

Concrete pathways go from the carpark down to the river bank and follow along the river which allows for accessible walks with either a wheelchair or pram. It's wide enough to allow people to pass each other on bikes and prams quite easily. Lighting isn't the best at night, with only some lights near the basketball courts as none of the tables are lit at night, so if staying at the park past sunset consider bringing an external light source.

All in all, this is a very lovely...

Grandson (2.5 yrs) loved playground, running up & down grassy slopes & walking along cement garden edges. He found a dog dish with water under water fountain. My mum's church folk had a morning tea we attended under big shady trees. Cement Paths were great for the wheel chair I am operating at the moment. Great for wheelie walkers too. One dear older lady just walked over & back to the toilet block close by. There were young boys using the jetty/pontoon & swing into river. We observed 3 girls carrying a kayak & surfboard down to the river from the car park. Great picnic spot. We used to ride our bikes along the bike paths mext to river. Great...

Nice spot to take the kids for a BBQ, walk along the beautiful Ross River or relax on the well maintained lawns. Large fenced kids play area with swings and a climbing station with a sandpit. Toilets are close by near the turtle statue along with more adult sized swings. Climbing wall and basketball half court complete this as a great free adventure. Parking is plentiful in the carpark or...

“Golden Hour, Gentle Paws” 🌅🐾 Evening stroll from our house-sit led to serene Rossiter Park. The mini Husky prince, curious as ever, almost dipped into the river’s gleam. Birds fluttered, breeze whispered, and nature wrapped us in calm. A beautiful spot where paws, peace, and sunsets meet. 🌿 #MiniHuskyChronicles #TownsvilleSerenity
